Like many things shared here about Japan, this is partially true and only simps allow that, mostly to shut their agressive wives up and do their own thing (drink like mad with their pals, ie being an average salaryman).

Girls in Japan are way more shallow than you would think, no substance, no awareness about what happens in the world, nothing! Plain boring who are just there to meet with other useless friends and spend their boyfriends/husbands/sugar daddy money. Just go on a stroll in Tokyo during lunch time and you’ll see that 99% of cafes and nice restaurants filled with ladies gossiping and uttering non sense about their dull daily lives.

Then these same ladies go on and shame their husbands to keep them on leash or the other men they can’t sleep with because they are MGTOW. Long story short, these fucked up social dynamics and passive aggressive feminism made Japan home to one of the highest divorce rates in the world as well to the mass adoption of herbivore men philosophy which is the closest in Japan to MGTOW. This is a cultural thing from time immemorial. Dealing with something as petty as money and household bills was seen as beneath a samurai, and therefore was women's work. They're more about honour and duty and whatnot
