Honestly, I just found my way here from a link in askmen, but the transition since has been insane.

I think foreveralone is a good recruiting ground because not all of the people on there are incapable of any social interaction. Even before I found TRP, I was still super social but my results with women were zero. A lot of people on there are pretty much ready to try any new system so I'd say it could work.

The thing is that masturbation/porn as sad as it sounds can make you so self-satisfied that you don't act on your sexual desires with real girls. I'm speaking as a guy whose had more than a few chances to fuck real women and I didn't go through with it because it'd be safer, easier, less risky, more comfortable, require less intimacy, less anxieties, etc to just do it at home. I wasn't happy with the fact that porn was removing my drive to get laid to the point where I felt like there was something wrong with me and I hated looking back at women who wanted to fuck and thinking damn it, I could've got that puss so easy.

That is more or less why I'd rather not masturbate and try to get laid. Every other time I jerk off, I remind myself of that.

If it wasn't for the thrill (heh) and fun of approaching and eventually closing, I probably wouldn't be pursuing women at all. I would just do my own thing, and maybe occasionally talk to a girl with a pretty face, in the hopes that she matches up to my Lost in Translation/Before Sunrise fabrications.

I've yet to read those, gotta check them out. I've gotta say i'm coming from the opposite perspective, where I thought most women were close to my ideal, then became a 'player' with no game in high school, and realized most hot women were dumb attention whores or party girls and simply boring as people. And now i'm coming back to the game after realizing there are some intelligent, somewhat mature, respectable girls out there now that i'm hitting my 20's (and the previously unattractive intelligent girls are starting to learn to dress and do their makeup as well) so my interest in actually having a relationship is back so no more porn.

To be fair, I can understand the sentiment, even though I wouldn't try to make up an imaginary friend.

I find some "constructs" - for e.g, I've just started reading the Discworld series by Pratchett and Black Hole by Burns - way more interesting than actual life. There's a strong human aspect in the writing, and you could imagine those conversations playing out if the natural world you live in was similar to that one.

But I digress...those guys should read "How to Make Friends..." and start approaching. And also watch the RSD vid about Hard Case Newbies.

As someone that has been reading /r/mensrights type stuff for the last ten years, I've come to agree wtih you. However, where the MRA's get it right is that the government shouldn't be discriminating based on gender. If there is a problem about violence against women, then make a gender-neutral law. If more women require this than men (not in this case, it's about equal), so be it. But at least men are protected as well.

They also have exposed the Marriage 2.0 scam and I know it's saved my ass a few times in college from women wanting a ring (then not working ever again or wanting children). I consider men's rights a root of TRP theory, but it's not the entire thing of course.

That's just my two cents.

How would that be benevolent sexism against men? The man is providing the benefit to the woman.

The complaints I've seen over there most often are a "shamed if you do, shamed if you don't" problem. Lots of women out there still expect you to hold a door open, while others are offended if you do. And you don't know ahead of time which is which.

One guy even lost his job because he made a sarcastic remark after getting belittled for opening a door.
