I was out of town for a seminar with a married male co-worker. We were suppose to land in NYC last night at 7PM.

Our flight got cancelled the last minute and now we won't land until almost 11pm.

He sends a text to his wife (he got married in March) and she replies that shes not been feeling well, and he should text when he lands to make sure she is awake because she would have to open the door. She suggests he stay over at my place if she doesn't answer. Apparently, he left his car keys at home and the keys to his home are on it.

When we get to the airport he runs around like a chicken without a head trying to find something to buy for his wife, he wants to "put a smile on her face". He ends up buying a Swarovski figurine and we go to the gate to wait.

We end up boarding late and we land almost midnight!

The moment we land he texts his wife but there is no reply. I navigate to the parking and I drive to drop him off, I live a few miles away from him. The entire drive he tries calling and texting but she is not answering.

When I get to his place he asks me to wait in the car, he will try ringing the bell to see if she wakes up.

I wait a good 10 minutes but I still see him ringing and knocking on the door.

He comes back to the car and says he wants to call the police, she sounded "very sick" back when he spoke to her and now shes not answering calls or the door, his car is there, so he knows she didn't go to her parents house.

He thinks for a moment and decides it's better to call her mother even at this hour than to call the police first, maybe her mom knows something, he is so crazy he wants to call the local hospital to check if she was admitted!

He calls her mother and her mother says the last she spoke to her daughter (his wife) was in the morning and she sounded a bit "under the weather".

The mother tries calling her on a three-way, but it goes right to voicemail. She tells him to wait at the house shes rushing over.

Twenty minutes later her mother and father show up, they ring the bell and knock on the door but no answer.

The father is so nervous he's considering kicking the door in! My friend suggests to call the police, the mom says to call a locksmith! In the meantime, on his behalf, I called two local hospitals, but none had a record of her being admitted.

The mom calls his wife's brother (his brother-in-law) to see if he spoke to her, he says he didn't but he has a backup set of keys to the house, he was helping with some renovation a while ago and has a copy.

We wait from the brother almost a half hour and he shows up with the keys and hands it to his mother.

Her hands are shaking so much that she cannot even put the key in! My friend takes the keys and open the door.

Out of respect I wait outside, I am his close friend but don't know the condition of his wife, and for all I know something bad happened and I will be a suspect soon.

I'm in my car (it's so humid here its insane) and he comes out crying that its worse than he thought, shes not in the apartment! She might have been kidnapped! He calls 911!

The cops show up and say that they can file a missing persons report (I always thought you must wait a day) but because of her age and no mental health conditions (I don't know about that) it will not be taken that seriously yet. There is an exception, if he knows a reason that she was being targeted or has evidence of foul-play, they will work the case immediately.

He starts telling them that they are in love, and if shes not home something bad must have happened. The mother tells the cops that her daughter tells her everything, and it is not like her to just leave.

The cops spoke to him about using her phone to locate her, they said at this stage they will not get involved, but if he is legally allowed to access her device it is an option for him. Cops claimed that depending on a phone if it has a charge he might even be able to turn it on remotely, they suggest he get "legal counsel" first.

Suddenly a car pulls up and his wife, dressed like a 99 cents hooker, walks out of the front passenger side! She is obviously drunk, my friend runs over to the car and asks the guy "did she pay you"? The guy did not even reply, he just drove away. My friend assumed it's a Uber or something.

The cops at this point say they will cancel the report and they leave.

My friend tries talking to his wife, and so do her parents but shes slurring her speech and saying she texted him that shes going to a high-school reunion and then she said she went to a wedding lol.

The parents leave and tell him to wait until she "has a good night sleep" before asking what happened. "Maybe something bothers her".

When everyone leaves he asks me if he can stay over in my place, I tell him sure, and we drive away.

He really did not say anything other than "I can't believe it" at least 600 times all the way to my place, and I live pretty close to him.

Seeing a man in so much pain, a good guy, a caring guy, getting so hurt really bothered me. This is the guy every woman wants once they are done with the CC. He is in shape, makes a good living, he pays no other woman any mind, everything is always about his wife, and now he is destroyed.

I refused to give him any lectures about women, I felt it is the wrong time. On his own he tells me he is going to a divorce lawyer and moving on. He does not even want to know what happened and who that guy was, he does not care. He is married a little less than 4 months and he wants out before he has any kids or has more problems.

If I didn't read this forum often I would have been in way more shock. I feel bad for him, but I cannot say I am surprised by her behavior.
