Sadly she probably doesn't understand the extent of the harm inflicted.

That would involve empathy to understand the significance of the object she wrecked and respect for the passion, time and effort those two men poured into the restoration process.

I sincerely doubt she is capable of that.

She is probably thinking that they are making a fuss over a childish nothing and is their fault her day was ruined.

Having done a big car project myself, the thing that hurts the most in these situations is the fact that all those hours put into the car together are gone. Sure, there’s likely an insurance payout that will cover the cost/value of the car, but getting it restored at a body shop or just buying another similar car is not the same as all the hours and work and sweat the guy and his dad put into that particular car making sure the paint job looked nice, the engine/cars were tuned, the interior was perfect, the body parts were aligned well, and so many, many other things. When these things get wrecked it’s really tragic.
