If you're getting into an LTR, you still have to be able to drop her and leave at a moment's notice. Being otherwise is to give her leverage and to be beta. You can engage with a woman you love if you like, but you have to be hard as fuck to walk away the first time she disrespects you. She will do it, and every little thing you let slide by is an erosion of your frame.

Finally someone comes out and says what's got to be said. LTR's in their current form are a joke and mostly designed to ruin men while the chick climbs up the social ladder. Every guy that retains the ideal of 'love' and staying faithful is a naive idiot asking for it.

Sure some assholes might get lucky for a while or they are simply to stupid to notice small cues of their women transgressions. But make no mistake- you will get pummeled mentally. She will use you intentionally or unintentionally with no consideration for your betaness ideals.

Lets not kid ourselves one bit gentlemen. We want relationships because we want a steady supply of ever escalating sex. Spinning plates and having ONS requires tight mental skills- be it natural or learned. The chemical high you receive is no excuse to stop looking out for your own best interests. Ignoring this puts you in white knight territory.

Personally when I feel that rush again while dating a girl it quickly fades. Part of being unplugged means you are exposed and reminded of female nature. I enjoy the rush while it lasts and then return to my pragmatic senses.

Long term relationships don't require you to stay faithful or truthful. This is hammered into you because the female imperative is shit scared of it. Knowing full well that they do it themselves the implied projection and consequences fill their hearts with dread. Much easier to tell young boys to play the game nicely so the female keeps the upper hand.

If you find yourself in the situation where lying is more beneficial than truth- opt to lie. If you find yourself in the situation where cheating is an option- grant yourself that chance. For the love of god stop enabling women.

Back in the evolutionary era when love was biologically programmed in men (let's consider only men, for brevity), there was no marriage. This meant no divorce-rape, of course, and no involuntary fatherhood, which are today's greatest banes for men.

However, even if you take marriage (and divorce and child-support) out of the equation, men's love feelings are still a great handicap, as long as you leave fatherhood in the picture. That is, if a man's love drives him to become the dedicated father of a child, needing to devote all his energy and curbing his other sexual opportunities, it still is too great of a biological cost, and doesn't add up.

The answer is that fatherhood was unknown for most of our evolutionary past. Very probably only Homo-Sapiens managed to figure it out, and only in the last 10 to 20,000 years. Before that there was mothering, there was men's care for their sisters' children, and of course there was men's collective care for the tribe. I won't go into much detail (search about partible paternity, or you can read my book for more), but the greatest thing about the lack of the notion of paternity was that you could walk away from a woman whenever you wanted to. Talk about Prehistoric dread. She had to keep the sex flowing for the meat to keep coming. That's what counterbalanced and made possible the development of such a potent feeling as is male love.

Yeah, the idea of 'true love' is more of fleeting chemical reaction. Romantic love involves high doses of dopamine and the triggering of the Caudate Nucleus which is responsible for the mind's engine for arousal, sensations of pleasure and the motivation to gain rewards. The interesting thing is that based on studies, this feeling lasts for 2-3 years at most; after this period the feeling of love may remain but the initial passion subsides.

To me, the idea of love should not be rebuked in the 'Sphere but rather men understanding that women are the ones who are able to truly experience these feeling in its entirety. The idea that men can 'get lost' in their feelings, become completely vulnerable and open are the ideas that needs to be rebuked because its not attractive, arousing or beneficial.

With regard to your last statement, I don't see the problem of being in a LTR but it needs to come about organically. Once men understand the cost-benefit of their decision, I don't see the issue. Each man has their path and goals, LTR/marriage may be part of it.

Somehow, we are suppose to be celebrating the idea of wanting to unfeasibly dedicate ourselves to one person AND when it falls apart miserably, be happy about it as well.

No thank you. And, you can have my piece as well; the horror show that is modern marriage, the fantasy the media paints about love (even the self awareness of how terrible it actually is) and religion.

Now, what about your children? Well, even your offspring can turn out to be raging assholes. And if they reject their upbringing to follow something that harms you and even themselves, you cut them loose at the legal age. As well as administer tough 'love' before you can legally cut them loose.

Love is social quicksand.

We need firm and solid ground. Not twisting, spinning and distortion on having to put up with someone else's shit.

Another poster provided a link which showed this whole concept of 'Love' as a pretty new concept. People from all the other ages pretty much boiled it down to resource management (partnership in power and status), and lust (infidelity). There was no Love.
