Summary: My recent experience saving my own life by stopping two lifelong habits on the same day. There is really power to be gained by learning to control yourself.

Body: I have been reading TRP since it had 40k subs and this is my first post. In late June last year I had to quit after smoking for over 20 years. I also had to become a vegan/whole foods plant based eater after eating meat all my life. I did both of these things to stop my chest pain and reverse any heart disease I had developed because I did not want to die.(PS. I don't recommend smoking while doing the low carb diet) I was able to stop two 20+ year habits in one day. It was really a challenge at the time but I succeeded. All my chest pain stopped within the first month and my testosterone even went up. I have also lost over 50 lbs and am starting some new businesses.

I made flash changes and realized just how easy things are when you DECIDE to change. You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. We all hear that spouted endlessly on the internet, but now I understand the power in that statement. The Power is in our own minds. I was actually amazed by how easy it all was 8 months ago looking back. Anyway, what I found out was that Discipline is like a muscle and it GETS STRONGER WITH USE. When I was younger I achieved great things in life through my strong discipline and now I have redevelpoed my power out of necessity due to a health scare.

Now I am achieving much more in life by making myself even more disciplined. It all seems to build upon itself. Last month for the first time, I did a 14 day juice fast as well as NoFap for 14 days and I am now "of strong mind" as Conor Mcgregor says. I am achieving what I set my mind to in all areas of my life which I felt I had lost control of over the last 10 years or so. Some people say everything can be a blessing or a curse according to how you react to it. I AM BACK TO KICK LIFES ASS ONCE AGAIN.

There is really power to be gained by learning to control yourself. Mastering Self-Discipline puts life on a much easier mode. I guess that is why society is teaching the younger generation to "do whatever feels right" because that subjective reality makes people mentally weaker and easier to manipulate.

I also wanted to thank all of the free thinking UNINDOCTRINATED men of TRP. You guys are a continued source of support and inspiration. I love this site.

Tl;Dr - How relearning self discipline saved my life last year. I learned that mastering yourself and makes life easier through self discipline and controlling yourself.
