I have a question for this community regarding its political leanings. I am a simple man who came across a mention of this subreddit in the comments of another post. I’ve spent the last hour reading your popular posts to attempt to understand your perspectives. I do not agree with many of them. However, I do appreciate the solidarity that has been generated among men here. I am studying to be a psychologist one day, and I understand the importance of men having a strong support system in our lives.

Now my question is: why does this sub seem to have such a hatred for left-wing ideologies? There seems to be some misconception that those who subscribe to left-wing ideals are somehow less masculine. This is interesting to me because the absolute core of leftist discourse is solidarity amongst laborers and the protection of their right to live equally to their fellow man. It is the abolishment of the rigid class structures that unfortunately often define a man’s value as an individual in our society today. To me, this seems very classically masculine as well as being a direct solution to the inherent problem this subreddit complains of. Indeed, if one looks at soviet and Chinese communist propaganda, they are hyper-masculine and depict the working man as a noble and revered figure. It is tragic that these societies fell under the desolation of totalitarianism which demonized leftist ideals to the world for most of recent history.

I am a man. I work, I have hobbies, I exercise, I am self-confident, I try to learn every day, and I am a leftist. I am not a “soyboy”. I don’t want handouts; on the contrary, I want more people to be able to work and to be given proportional compensation to the work they do. I want to see a society where my fellow people aren’t beaten down and exploited. I want to see a society where children don’t grow up with one parent, because the other is imprisoned, or is too young to settle down, or is refused the right to raise their child because of an unjust system of laws. Why should these ideals be excluded from a sub that stands for men’s rights when they offer real solutions to a prevailing problem in our capitalist country?

Edit: I don’t seem to be able to reply anymore for some reason, however I am reading all of your comments. I have rebuttals for all of them, but the main thing I’m seeing is a misunderstanding of leftist economic systems. I would recommend you all look into some resources that explain it from a less reactionary perspective. There’s tons of great videos on YouTube and a huge collection of literature that will give you a deeper understanding on the subject. I recommend the channel Second Thought on YouTube as a starting point.
