I think the issue is that men are concerned about the difference in assets and income working against them in "family" court.

To be more marriageable, these ladies need to step up and make more money and have more assets so they can ante up and contribute to modern life which ain't cheap. Otherwise men are just better off just taking care of themselves.

We need women working in harder jobs, working longer hours, so they can contribute equally and reduce the gender earnings gap.

I think one could reasonably define "marrigeable" as (1) sufficiently fertile to bear or father 2 or 3 children; (2) in good health (which includes not being obese); (3) childless; and (4) financially secure.

By this definition, I'm pretty sure that the shortage is of marrigeable women not marriageable men. In fact there are shockingly few marrigeable women by this definition.

Of course, we could relax the definitions a bit by not requiring the woman to be financially secure and not requiring the man to be childless. But there is still a big imbalance.

So why this ridiculous claim that there's a shortage of marrigeable men? As others pointed out, it's just female hypergamy at work. To even be on the woman's radar screen, the man must be at least as educated as her; make more money; and be significantly taller. Men who don't satisfy these types of requirements literally don't exist as far as her sexual instincts are concerned.

The greatest gift and miracle that God gave women is to create and grow new life and here is this God-loving woman dismissing it as no biggie you can just choose to take care of your aging parents instead. How about this, if you really love God as you claim then change your superficial definition and expectations of what a "marriageable man" is. It's not that hard, all you have to do is accept that your childish dreams are not reality and growing up means accepting that and adapting to reality. However choosing to discard your gifts is an affront to God. You are taking your miracle for granted. In the eyes of God there is nothing more important a person will do than raising and caring for a child as God cares for you.
