I decided long ago (I'm 35 now) that marriage and a family was not for me. The cost/benefit analysis just didn't add up. In the last couple of years, I've come to another realization, the realization that busting my ass to provide tax dollars for a system that perpetuated the societal issues I was trying to avoid was a foolish endeavour. I quit my job, and now I live on a combination of savings, investments, and off-the-books side 'jobs' that I do under the table. I actually am currently living - quite comfortably - on less than $12,000 a year.
I feel far more free than I did when I was a wage slave trying to make money so I could 'get a good woman', and I even feel freer than I did when I was 'making money for toys' - I have few personal possessions beyond that which I need for food, shelter, and some entertainment. If I wanted or needed to, I could up and move to the other side of the planet on a day's notice, with no regrets and nothing I'd have to worry about moving.
In a way, I suppose my personal philosophy is a combination of MGTOW, a minimalist lifestyle, and being frugal (which is not the same as stingy - I'll pay the money I need to for the best quality of what I need, I just won't buy things I don't need). I am just curious if anyone else is 'going the same way', as it were.

Yeah I'm maybe a step ahead of you, I have $120k in the bank, make $700 a month in passive income, and do some consulting on the side on how to make money on Youtube (where I made my money). I live in China where $700/mo plus the extra cash from online consulting is enough to live well. I love Chinese girls, and well... they love me :)
Living the dream. Yeah I got tired of working 12 hours a day and paying 40% in taxes. Fuck that. Now I pay basically no taxes and don't work. And I've got hot Chinese girls pretty much throwing themselves at me all the time. Live in the most beautiful city in China -- couldn't be happier.

You're living my retirement. Any other suggestions where to live? I could reasonably live in China but prefer not to.
I'm thinking Costa Rica but online calculators say it's only a couple dozen percent less expensive than Canada. But having visited there, it didn't seem that expensive

I lived in north China, the city of Jinan, 2009-11. Then I went back home and started a YouTube channel selling drones -- the YouTube channel is called ARDroneShow. In 2014 I googled "what's the most beautiful city in China?" And it said Yangshuo. I bought a ticket and have been living here the last year and a half. It is indeed incredibly beautiful.
Americans can get a 10 year tourist visa, then you just have to make a border run every 2-3 months. The easiest thing to do is take a 2-3 hour fast train for $30 to Hong Kong and back, you can leave in the morning and be back before dark. You could marry a Chinese girl but it's not necessary.
The dating game is totally reversed here. All the local girls -- so many hotties by the way -- love foreigners, and they love to be submissive. I've been dating a really beautiful cafe-owner the last few months, and she does all my laundry, gives great massages, cleans my room, buys me gifts, and does anything I want in bed.
A lot of Chinese girls aren't into Chinese guys. And the foreign girls also aren't into Chinese guys, so foreign guys have a really big pool of girls to get with, and the Chinese and foreign girls have to fight over the foreign guys. It's wonderful. Speaking the language isn't really a requirement either -- I speak a little Chinese but there's enough English here that it's not too big a deal if you don't speak a lick of Chinese.
I know of some job openings here for bartenders, or for outdoor guides -- stuff like biking or rock climbing -- it's a great life. If you have a college degree many schools in China will pay for your flight and visa, and give you a job with an apartment. Pay is pretty good, often like $20 an hour in a decent sized city like Shenzhen.
I could go on and on, but that's the gist of it.
