Yeah I'm maybe a step ahead of you, I have $120k in the bank, make $700 a month in passive income, and do some consulting on the side on how to make money on Youtube (where I made my money). I live in China where $700/mo plus the extra cash from online consulting is enough to live well. I love Chinese girls, and well... they love me :)

Living the dream. Yeah I got tired of working 12 hours a day and paying 40% in taxes. Fuck that. Now I pay basically no taxes and don't work. And I've got hot Chinese girls pretty much throwing themselves at me all the time. Live in the most beautiful city in China -- couldn't be happier.

I gave up my career to move home again and look after my aged, disabled and infirm parents and brother. In season, I look after the yard and garden, growing produce for the family. The rest of my time is spent with several hobbies and regular exercise. For money, I rely on income from my investments. I've been giving away my material possessions for several years already, with the objective of eventually reducing my space requirements to that of a prison cell or a camper-van conversion (nod to /r/vandwellers).

I don't work outside the home, and I'm not interested in working as long as the activity might bring me into contact with women, children, or manginas.

In a few years, both my parents (and possibly my younger brother as well) will pass on, and I'll be completely free again to wander and discover.

I do the same. I judge my success on how much time I get to do my own thing, and how much peace and quiet and respite from other people I get. Those are the things I value.

The rest is a chain-reaction. Women acting like shit is like the economy being built on fraud by government. Having freedom means being detached from both. I couldn't imagine one without the other.

I wasted a lot of my money and savings and basically pissed it all away on cheap (or not so cheap) thrills like women, coke and booze. The "friendships" and women that result from that lifestyle are fake anyway. In the end its all a big pile of wank.

Now I am trying to start over again. But I have to say its quite liberating to leave most of your bad habits behind. I still love my bourbon and indica smoke from time to time but I stopped doing the stupid things which usually were part of the ritual like picking up big tabs and inviting random people and chicks over to our table for drinks etc.

Oh and I bought myself a nice little apartment relatively close to the beach. So things are getting better. Cheers.

Yes. I think this mgtow is a smaller part in a bigger picture. I don't know the word for it but there is something wrong with someone making 100k a year and still stressing about a mortgage. Women and wives make up a big part of that grind we are trying to avoid. The thought that men just have to slave away all their good years for what?

I drive a shit car, I pay the lowest rent I can (and I even have a bad taste in my mouth because I pay rent at all) and it means I have so much extra money and time. The only thing it costs me is judging looks which I'm so jaded by by now I can't even comprehend why they can't see my point of view... I couldn't be happier.

People say your life starts flying by as you get older. It doesn't. It starts flying by once you start your 24/7/365 grind with 2 weeks of living a year. For me it's going as slow as if I was still in highschool.

I'm in a similar financial situation to you, OP. Make all my money from investments nowadays and my needs are so simple I don't need much.

I'm frugal but not a "minimalist". I actually kept all my books, tools, sporting goods, etc. from decades ago. When I want to do a sport or go on a trip, I don't have to go buy or rent equipment at a store. I just dig out some old stuff. I actually enjoy using old stuff with lots of good memories more than constantly buying new.

I live in a small house in a small flyover state town in the Rockies, so I have room to store things. Lots of outdoor recreation nearby, and the crime here is as close to zero as anywhere I've ever lived. No way I would pay $1500+ for a tiny apartment in a big city if I don't need to be there for my job. I'm actually going to a social event tonight in a nearby medium sized city. I don't mind the drive. Thousands in my pocket every month from rent I didn't have to pay.

I feel that one must maintain a constant ambition to increase one's freedom, in order to feel like a man. This is true no matter what your situation. I've made life choices in the past year that have liberated me from many of my bonds, but I'm always looking ahead to a time when it can be better. To a time where there can be more than before where necessary, and less than before where necessary. I want a minimalistic life of plenty.

I have 2 kids and an ex-wife I will need to support I guess. So for me I will have the ball and chain for awhile. Who knows how long. Otherwise though I'm leaving the custody to her, until my kids can decide on their own who they want to be with. Its time for me to live on my own as well.

I think a lot of people are coming to the same realization as you are and its fucking the establishment up.

yes.

i make really good money in the oilfield. the industry tanked. but it doesnt effect me. i can slob around for years. i grow my own food, make my own booze. forage. stuff like that.

all my friends unfortunately are hurting financially and stressing. me, i will be sad when the downturn is over. cant wait till the next one.

I don't feel any drive to acquire much more than I already have or chase after any really expensive "toys" (you know, like fancy sports cars or whatever, though I probably couldn't afford shit like that even if I wanted to), but I don't want to degrade my current lifestyle either. I like having a house and not living right next-to/over/under other people...

My Story Purpose: Show why I'm still 'engaged'

The day I was born, I was able to retire. So is the way of trust fund kids. Before my 18th birth day (for the trust fund to be received), I had various times of low and high amounts of cash as a teen (4 thousand+). I was able to realize that spending money in order to be 'happy' was futile. Working, pushing myself, and challenging myself to do new things was a much better reward than buying more video games or booze.

During that time, I realized that living my life as a permanent vacation would drive me to suicide. I needed to problem solve, I needed to learn new things, I needed to prove to myself what I am capable of. So I decided that no matter the tax rate, no matter the salary, that I was going to work in a field that stimulates me and I found that in accounting (odd I know).

While the taxes, and salary may influence how often I push myself, I know I need something to strive towards in order to stay sane, and a career is something that most people use so why not me.

I'm married (to a trad-con woman thankfully) and have kids so I can't be MGTOW (I only discovered the concept last year) but I share a lot of your outlooks on life due to my libertarian political views.

I've been wanting to economically disengage for the past 7 years (because I was dissatisfied with the political trends in the U.S.) but my career prevents me from doing so. Background, I'm a Resident Physician in the US (similar to a registrar in Europe), i.e. I earn a salary of ~$50,000 per year for 45-50 hrs of work (not including study assignments) and my specialty actually has easy hours compared to most training programs. I have been a Resident Physician for 6 years and will complete my training next year and finally become an Attending (aka a consultant). In order to be a registrar, I completed 4 years of undergraduate and 4 years of medical university which cost a total ~$300,000 (I had some scholarships to help reduce the cost, some of my classmates have over $400,000 in educational debt).

When become an Attending/Consultant Physician, my pre-tax salary will probably be ~ $250,000 - $350,000. Mind you I will have to contend with my debt (which is accumulating interest as we speak) for the first 2 years post-Residency.

I am currently 33 years old and will be at least 36 before I can actually start earning a salary for myself. Switching careers is not an option because few other jobs would enable me to earn enough money to pay my debts (there's a reason doctors in the U.S. earn so much money). Additionally, switching careers would only cost even more of my time. Don't forget about the fact that many medical professions are female-dominated (pharmacy, nursing, many technicians, social workers) and females use a disproportional amount of medical resources.

TL;DR: If you want to disengage economically and go your own way then do not try to become a physician (at least not if you work in the United States).

This needs to be discussed more. They are literally stealing money from men by collecting tax from us but redistributing it to women via state-sponsored freebies (such as preferential treatment for women's health issues while ignoring men's health issues), and it is reprehensible to me to support women indirectly via such policies.

So even if you prevent direct parasitism by not marrying or not engaging in LTRs, they still leech off of you via the tax route.
