I was going to write a whole essay on this, but let's keep it short and simple: It's no secret that women are expected to look beautiful. But you should look and feel beautiful for yourself, first and foremost. Some of us have difficulty adopting this mindset, and that's okay--We're all here to work on ourselves and our self-esteem, and sometimes that's a lifelong process, especially when you grow up in a culture that values looks above all else. A lot of men want the "perfect" woman, and that will be different for each man. But this is a reminder that beauty will NOT keep a man. Read that again. Beauty is not the deciding factor on whether or not a man will stay with you and treat you well. Men don't have loyalty to beauty, they have loyalty to their needs and desires. You should do the same. Look at this list, for a moment:

  • Angelina Jolie
  • Monica Bellucci
  • Beyoncé
  • Melissa Benoist
  • Halle Berry
  • Zendaya
  • Uma Thurman
  • Elizabeth Hurley
  • Rihanna
  • Olivia Hussey
  • (& countless others...)

These women are held up in the media as standards of beauty. Do you know what else they have in common? They were all either abused, divorced, or cheated on by their partner(s). No amount of beauty, talent, fame, or charm prevented their husbands or boyfriends from hurting or leaving them.

I've noticed that some of my female friends who are single will look at social media posts or television or the tabloids and say something along the lines of, "If I looked like that, maybe I could easily find a partner." NO! Remember these two FDS tidbits: 1) You MUST have queen energy from Day 1, and, 2) You cannot have a scarcity mindset if you're looking for HVM.

At the end of the day, LVM are LVM--beauty might entice them and keep them around for a bit, but it's not enough to make them decent human beings (and why would you want them anyway, right?)

So, what's the lesson here? Treat yourself kindly, find the beauty within yourself (the one that makes you, you), and kick anyone to the curb who would treat you less than.
