People don’t realize how steadily this undermines the faith in the legal system. Yes big political scandals like what we are facing now undermine the faith in government, but this is far worse. You have an entire generation growing up understanding through direct experience or indirect experience the system is not only not to be trusted, but outright is their enemy.

If a major war was to break out the United States would find itself with a deficit of people willing to fight and die for it. Even worse they’d find themselves with people so filled with hatred towards the system, attempting to force conscript them will end disastrously.
