I had a year subscription many years ago. Through that I realized that the advice they gave at the beginning of the year would be contradicted towards the end and back again. That was the last time I ever read or bought a magazine.

It’s sad that cosmo is among the first things a young impressionable girl is able to gain info about the adult world. Those “manuals” in magazines on introduction to safe sex, enjoyable sex, without the must be The One prince charming bs must be written by women, approved by women and owned by women.

I think it's more on how perception of society has changed. Women are realizing their rights and values more than ever.

Previously, a woman's goal in life was portrayed to get a marry to marry you. Later, it was learn to please and sexually pleasure a man so he stays with you. Not much else is said on what a woman can do.

Now we have women in every corner taking action and being inspirational. It's becoming more commonplace and we are more aware of that we're not here just to serve a man's needs. That's why the magazine sounds worse now when in reality it has always been a pickme 101.

It's like watching the movie Back to the Future today. That movie is so rapey it's just terrifying that it was considered "normal" when it came out.
