Sums up my marriage. I was so entirely emotionally manipulated that I believed it for a good while. I was suicidal, having panic attacks daily, and literally unable to work due to anxiety before the end of it.

I'm coming out of it now, jaded and ultimately strengthened. This sub has helped a lot to get my mind back and rebuild myself by helping me keep clear that what I put up with was bullshit, and I don't intend to repeat that. The humor helps take the edge off. Every now and then, though, I'm reminded of the true horror that relationship was. It destroyed my mental health and almost killed me. I'm moving on but I can't allow myself to forget. It was too easy to fall into the trap of believing everything was my fault/I deserved it/I was the problem. I'm still angry, I realize.

Perhaps I will pursue counseling when I have health insurance again.
