I have no clue how the hell to be a high value woman. I have no problem holding my own when I’m dating, but I’ve been in a relationship for a year now and my boyfriend is very kind and I love him, I just feel like I’ve been doing everything lately.

When I was dating, I’d have 3-4 boys pining after me at once. I made the mistake of telling them that I was going to a specific bar one night and they all ended up showing up there. I never really settled for anyone, and I marched to the beat of my own drum when I was talking to these guys. I’m not trying to toot my own horn here but they all wanted me, and at the time I wasn’t really actively looking for a relationship which is probably what drew them in closer. one of those guys happens to be my current boyfriend.

Maybe I’m being greedy, but I just want more. In the beginning, he was chasing me like no other. I had actually rejected him a year prior and he had been chasing me all that time, but now we’re a year into our relationship I feel like things could be going better than they are right now. I want him to show more affection and be the one initiating more. I find myself scrambling to make plans because I feel like if I don’t have plans with him, I should show him I’m busy doing other things with other people. I feel like him knowing I’m at home doesn’t help my situation.

When we first started dating I really wasn’t into him that much and I was keeping my options open, and he was going crazy for me, like CRAZY. He was paying for everything, wanting to see me almost everyday, and when I couldn’t, he’d be making plans for the next day instead. Then slowly I started settling into this shitty routine and I don’t know what else I can do to break out of it. I make plans with friends and I keep myself occupied, but I feel like he doesn’t notice or doesn’t care. When we were dating it was a different story. Even early on in the relationship he’d visit me at work and bring me a coffee, that hasn’t happened in ages and I don’t want to nag him and say “bring me coffee it makes me feel wanted!!!” I just want him to do it like he did before. Don’t get me wrong, we do have a good relationship. He tells me he loves me all the time, but I want him to plan dates again and take me out and treat me like he used to. Now that I’m sitting here typing this out I’m realizing this probably needs to come from inside me first but I keep slipping up and forgetting that I am my own person.

I’ve probably read “Why Men Love Bitches” a thousand times over, and some of the tips really click for me, but others just don’t. My mom recommended it to me, saying that it should be every girls bible, and I don’t disagree. I just think I need things spelled out for me. The chapter I keep reading over and over is how to reignite the spark. “Men don’t respond to words, they respond to no contact!” Okay well I make plans with friends and make myself busy but nothing changes. I’ll sometimes wait hours on end for him to reply to my texts because he’s too busy playing video games to talk to me, whereas in the beginning, I’d be at work and he’d be wondering why I’d take more than 5 minutes to reply. Now, I get a reply once every hour, and it’s a fucking Bitmoji. Like thanks for contributing to the conversation, jackass.

Again, it’s not all bad, even though I propose the day we hang out, he does plan it all. But it’s mostly movie nights or playing video games. I’m always making the bigger plans like “hey let’s go skating,” or “let’s try coffee at this new place I found.” Why can’t he do that sometimes?

How do I get my relationship back to what it was? How do I be a high value woman again???

Edit: I just wanted to thank everyone for the replies and I’ve taken all of them into consideration. Also, I just wanna say how blessed I am that I found this sub, it really lines with my values and how my mom raised me. All other subs are always like “oh just talk to him, communication is key!” But that really doesn’t work in my experience. It’s very nice to reach out to people who can offer me help in the way that I need!!! So thank you again ladies!!
