This is true for all people but YES especially men. If a man is suddenly overly nice and interested in you, be suspicious. It’s probably exactly what you think it is.

I attract the sort of guys who claim they’re “nice” and this quote really explains why I hate those types. All nice means is trying to appeal to what other people think of you. It’s not specific enough in terms of existing as an actual quality.

I actually see this with myself. I struggle with depression and I notice that when I'm in a good space, I feel like a good person, and I smile and talk to people and I do good things for people for no reason. When I'm feeling depressed, I feel like trash, and I put on a nice facade so that other people don't notice.

There's definitely a difference between goodness and niceness.

Wasn't there a study that found that those who prioritise niceness were more likely to do horrible things in group experiments like shock innocent people in a different room if they were ordered to. It was a repeat of the famous study but they were looking at other social traits I'm sure. And the people who were considered to be a bit less nice and ruder were the ones more likely to stand up to the authority figures ordering them to shock the other people.
