Hi!

As most of the new subscribers, I found this reddit when it was getting mocked. I've been a reddit lurker for years with no account but I decided to make one because I need your guy's help. No, I'm not a man pretending to be a woman as some post suggested lol and no I'm not trying to inflame. I agree with this sub 10000000% which is why I'm coming here for help.

The situation:

My friend (promise I'm asking for a friend, I'm married so all good) has been with her boyfriend for over 5 years and they live together. While I like him a lot, I think my friend can do a looooot better. They don't have combined finances and split things like household expenses, take turns paying for dinner but I've heard him nickel and dime her a few times. This is where I find the imbalance: the amount of emotional labor she gets put through compared to the financial support he provides. Hell, I'll say lack of financial support! She cooks, has to nag him to clean and do chores. She has to tell him HOW to do the chores once she's nagged enough and he decides to do them.

At the beginning of the relationship, they slept together pretty quickly. She's mentioned in passing how he's not generous in the bedroom therefore she's not too generous back. There's no engagement in the horizon....although they both talk about getting married. She doesn't have a job at the moment due to unfortunate circumstances yet she is expected to still contribute as if she still had her job AND contribute even more with house work!

I know other people's relationships are none of my business and I'm not planning on stirring shit. That's why I need help on how to advice her. What would you tell a friend that was in this situation? Telling her "you're dating a manchild" is out of the question. I just want my girl to reach her full potential and be with someone that can see how amazing she is.
