As a woman, I understand that having the ability to casually date and have sex is easier for me. I have options, men are highly sexual, win win.

However, what I often don’t see on this sub is the trade off for being wanted. That is, when someone wants you in a way that you don’t want them. That is, when someone takes something from you that you don’t want them to take. I’m not going to undermine sexual assault in men, as it is important, it happens. and it is horrible. However, women experience sexual assault at a higher rate than men.

I have a friend who was raped on a first date, I have had to physically kick a man off of me and run, my friends and I all have rape alarms, I have a friend who’s nudes got shared across the internet unsolicitly (revenge), I know people who’s drinks have been drugged (all women). At the age of 16 I learned to walk with my keys between my fingers, at that age I found an older gentleman pleasuring himself to me while I was at work. When I walk by myself, I get catcalled about 50% of the time I leave my house (many threatening). I’ve been stalked and threatened by people I don’t know, and the list goes on

I do want to stress that the above things happen to men, but it is not as frequent and many men lack an engrained fear of sexual assault. Going on dates can be scary, you tell your friends and maybe family where you are going, and you keep on high alert...all the time. I don’t know one female who experiences the same

Yes women get attention, but the cost is ones safety. The trade off often not worth it.

But please- I don’t want you to take this as a “men don’t get raped or assaulted” thing, cause that IS NOT WHAT I’m saying.
