I've read through the comments about the dangers of getting involved with female cops.

I'll have you all know that my wife is a former cop (medically retired).

Most of you are right, about most pitfalls.

After a career of dealing with the worst scumbags humanity has to offer, her view of the entire human race is pretty grim. Most law enforcement officers tend to start viewing everyone as either a victim or a perpetrator. When they come across someone who is neither one, and it's obvious they're neither one, they have a hard time dealing with it.

There's also this prosecutorial mindset, in which almost any discussion turns into an interrogation in which they twist your words into the most negative alternative possible (sometimes even the compete opposite of what you said). Over the years I've developed a habit of every time "so in other words" comes out of her mouth, I immediately respond with "shut the fuck up!" before she finishes.

Also, one of my biggest fears during our rough period a few years ago, would be that she would use her knowledge of the system to falsely accuse me of domestic violence and make it stick. To her credit, she has never done anything of the kind, but other female cops have done such things to their husbands/SOs. It's a huge risk to take that didn't even occur to me until we'd already been married several years. It actually has happened to someone else who used to comment here occasionally and frequently at TRP. If I can find the old DMs in which we compared notes and he gave me the link to his post about it at TRP, I'll edit this to include that link.

In short: having been married to a female former cop for 15 years, I recommend strongly against it (and marriage in general, of course).

Cops don't retire at 42. She was fired or took disability. I want to like female cops because they have hard jobs, but when they're single at 42 there's clearly something extremely wrong with them. They're either control freaks, slobs, or jealous of every chick within 10 miles of any dude they date. And this one has baggage as well. Even if I was single I'd take a hard pass.

Most depts barely even offer retirement at 20 years anymore, and it's not as generous a pension as they used to be. Being retired at 42 (and likely been that way for a minute) suggests she was medically retired after getting fucked up. Possibly from an altercation, but probably from her shitty driving habits.
