I mean, I get where you’re coming from, but you also gotta consider the possibility that her father is simply protective of her because she is his own daughter. It might not necessarily be because of his own sexism. However, I do agree that there is this general idea of parents being much more protective of their daughters instead of their sons. Let’s say she had a brother who brought home a new girl he was dating. If the dad wasn’t as protective of his own son, then that’s where the problem would lie.

Have to hand it to you, assuming it happened, it takes some combination of balls and recklessness to say something like that. So long as you're willing to face the consequences, I don't see why any guy shouldn't have such a non-bullshit attitude, but don't be surprised if it erupts into an argument or a fist fight, or worse, depending on the character of the guy.

The sort of girls with daddy issues typically have fathers who will start throwing haymakers if you so much as blink in a manner they don't like. Which might be why some don't buy this story.
