With unemployment reaching record levels and talk of UBI coming, bailouts for student loans, and a more socialized economy (or maybe outright socialism). What are you going to do in order to hedge against it? Even in tech jobs, it's very easy to outsource Americans to cheaper offshore labor (my industry is eventually screwed IMO) and I will eventually have to transition into something hands on or accept the eventual universal income that is to follow.

To make this transition easier, I am reasonably diversified, I own no house, no debt aside from rent if you count that as debt and a modest investment account for my age and profession, some crypto's (although not as much as I should have).

And the biggest hedge against inflation-no wife and no kids.

Will you accept the government check if you are offered one or will you continue to work in the system that is stacked against us? At a certain point I predict there will be massive unemployment (talking like 30-40% of the country out of work) while population growth, outsourcing and technology making most jobs obsoleted.

If I'm laid off I'll take the unemployment check I paid into for but I'm not sure if I will outright take UBI if they end up implementing it or retool and continue working in a socialist country.
