Bill and Melinda are not comparable to normal people, the news is BS, live your life without dwelling on this for a second. Btw I agree marriage seems like a racket

This is not really an example that has anything to do with regular people. Bill gates is so fucking rich that giving away half his money WILL NOT AFFECT his lifestyle on any way. None whatsoever. Maybe he’ll move on the richest man in the world list and she’ll now make the richest women list. Practically, he can still buy and sell anything he wants. Even people. Bezos gave his ex half and it makes no difference at that level. Scrooge McDuck couldn’t hold his breath long enough to dive to the bottom of their piles of money.

She was a billionaire before. They're marriage made her a billionaire. She also worked for Microsoft before they were married, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was a joint effort. She raised three kids with him. She earned her half.

They were married 27 years.

It's not like she came into his life two years ago or something. She's not a gold digger. She knew him in college. He married his equal. They just grew apart.
