Some time ago I was chosen for a job for which I am very qualified. However for some reason, women were being given an advantage in this profession so that most of the staff were women. I was told that the women started complaining that some aspects of the work were dangerous as they involved law enforcement. So a call was made for more workers and men were given a preference. From a 4:3 ratio of women to men, the ratio was brought down to 1:1 men: women.

All my superiors were women, even though I was more qualified, knew more about the work and was ready to be in slightly dangerous situations.

Over the past weeks one of the women kept calling me at all sort of hours. I, together with another man, kept being given the difficult and dangerous cases. I did not mind. By now I have got used to being abused and discriminated against for being a man.These past couple of weeks I kept a list of all the jobs that I was given and I also listed the physical dangers that I was facing. Last weekend I sent this list of jobs which I had tackled to the head of the unit. She is a woman. I told her that I am ready to tackle anything that the job required but seeing that only I and another guy were handling the difficult jobs, we should be considered for a different pay structure or a promotion.

This morning I was caled to Human Resources where the head - a woman - told me that my job was being terminated. I asked for a reason but she told me that she was not obliged to give me one.

I am now without a job.
