A big part of the hostility towards circumcision here is that it's done to babies, and the medical reasoning behind either refers to pretty rare conditions that can often be treated by other means, or is based on really shakey evidence.

Where there's hostility towards people who are circumcised, it's usually people who say words to the effect of "I was circumcised as a baby and I'm happy, cutting babies for little-to-no good mediecal reason is fine and dandy!".

In your case, I'm assuming you had it done while you were old enough to give meaningful consent, so power to you.

If you chose to do it for any reason that is fine, it should be a choice though not something forced at birth for a non medical reason.

You don't need to feel terrible about it, no one does though understanding there is a difference between liking it, willingly doing it and having it forced upon you is something that is important. So as long as you don't believe it should be forced on anyone it is fine to feel any way about it.

Also it is inherently bad to do it, just the act of doing it without the person's consent is the bad part. As there is no scientific reason unless you have a medical condition. But it is up to every individual to make the choice

Dude, hostility is about ending MGM for infants.

It is not your case at all.

A) you had a choice.

B) you had medical condition that needed operation to fix it.

I see nothing wrong with the fact that you, as a consenting adult decided to make a decision being able to understand the procedure and any potential risks.

As many have said the issue many of us have with Circumcision is that it is often performed on young / baby boys who have no choice in the matter.. and because of that they are denied bodily autonomy..

The uproar is over doing it to infants for medically unnecessary reasons. It sounds like you had an issue and consented to the procedure. As long as your doctor was informed of the non-invasive treatment options, you were probably able to provide informed consent. In your case, no worries! Glad you were able to get treated for your issue.

I was cut at birth based on what my mother who trusted doctors at the time. Was also formula fed based on same Dr. My son and grandsons did not get cut or formula fed as better information was available.

The biggest part of the problem is that it’s routinely done to infants who cannot Consent.

It does result is a huge loss of sensation and functionality for the penis. Circumcision when done to a child who cannot consent amounts to a grievous form of sexual mutilation.

You made the choice. That's the difference. I regret my boy being circumcised but my husband was adamant that it be done. At the hospital I had to hear my child's screams of pure agony while it happened & I passed out right there. I've never regretted something so much in my life. I can't think about that scream without crying.
