I think a lot of the misconceptions about this is pretty easy to understand, women really only see rich, famous, or successful guys, Joe Smoe is basically invisible to them. All’s they see is that top tier guy and figure they deserve the same position.

To see how ridiculous it is, just look at how incredibly vapid and pointless the issues they point to are:

Wage Gap (which is just bad and unrepresentative statistics by Women's Studies majors)
Catcalling (an annoyance, not societal oppression)
Pink Tax (non-issue)
Abortion (issue where women actually have some degree of rights but men do not)
Domestic Labor (ignores the household tasks and work that men do)
Violence against Women (men are the overwhelming majority of violent crime victims)
Bias in Education (which according to all available statistics is against boys rather than girls)

So all this time, while men have to sign up for the selective services in the US and have mandatory military participation in many countries, have substantially higher homelessness rates, have substantially higher workplace death rates, have fewer education opportunities, have no bodily autonomy, have disproportionate prison sentences... they complain about catcalling.

Motherfucker I would happily be catcalled on every street corner for the rest of my life if any of the above problems for men could be fully resolved. I'd happily drive 100 miles to get out of a pregnancy when feminists act as if that's the biggest oppression in the world. I'd gladly pay an extra 30 cents for a deodorant because I'm a mouth-breathing moron who needs to buy something with "For Women" written on it if prostate cancer funding could even be half of what breast cancer funding is.

But unfortunately I don't have those options. That's kind of what being an average guy is about: not having options.

The literal definition of privilege is private law. Feminists all over the world are demanding special legal consideration for women to the point of not holding women responsible for any wrong doing.

This is identity politics. They speak of men as individuals, and also of men as a class. And they confuse the two. It's either because they are being deliberately disingenuous, hoping no-one will notice, or they are just clueless when it comes to clear thinking. I tend to think it's a bit of both.

Here in Australia a left-wing current affairs show had an episode titled, "Is male privilege a myth?". They brought on a bunch of feminists to push the official line on male privilege as well as a couple of MRAs.

I watched the whole show and the feminists completely failed to present a single example of male privilege. The closest they got was the weird trans man feminist claiming that more people laugh at his jokes now, though I remain unconvinced that he's actually funny at all.

So, in short: male privilege is utter nonsense. It's just a made-up excuse for feminists to hate men.

There is a confusion, mixed with apex fallacy.

The result (people in power are mostly men) is counfound with the mechanism. "If there is such a result is stem from bias hiring" etc.( I can give link later) but it is not the case. It stem from the number of applicant mainly.

The second issue as you said is the apex fallacy where the successful men are taken as exemple of the average men.

The other problem is that it suffest that these successfull group of men benefits men but it mainly benefit themselve and women. See the policy targeting mainly women even when both gender have the same issue. Or the mainstram media or the social network policies etc.

From at least 2003 the rate of men dying in jobs vs women is always higher. YAY!!
Fact: The most dangerous jobs are dominated by men.
Fact: Lower risk and soft jobs are dominated by women. Admin. Support. Customer service. Non-emergency healthcare. Education. Conclusion: Men are more willing to take risks than women to take on higher risk jobs. Therefore, men get paid more.
UK 2018: 95% of all worker fatalities were male.
97% of Canadian work deaths were men.
Sadly, this 'death rate' is 'acceptable' but one woman gets 'hurt or killed' and 99% of the world loses their sanity.

They are thinking of the 10% of men that aren't invisible to them. The men they want, the handsome, successful men who are their bosses. I'm sure the life of the top10% of men looks pretty good. They can't even see the other 90% of men. If they could see them, they wouldn't care. Women don't feel empathy for men. Stop feeling empathy for them.

Hello! Feminist here(don’t worry I’m not a femnazi)

Personally when I use the term “male privilege” I use it for how men are treated in more social situations. I don’t live in America, I live in a country that’s way less progressed when it comes to women’s rights so it’s easier to notice it.

For me male privilege is how they treat men like they know everything and how they can get away with things for being men. Femicides are very common where I live and the media and people try to make out the male killer as “a lovesick fool who was just trying to knock some sense into his victim” and the woman as “a manipulative crazy lady who was after his money”. People were saying these things about Pınar Gültekin(if you don’t know,look her up)

Growing up I’ve been cut off during conversations and told “Be quiet, the man is talking.” or I have had my ideas ignored since I was a girl. I would tell boys that I was a swimmer and they’re responses would be things like “I bet I could beat you since your a girl” even though they haven’t ever swam in a race in theyre life.

I had been told that I should find a husband and settle down. Me and my friends have been dresscoded for wearing tight jeans while the boys in our class wear the same thing. Somebody in the countries education board suggested that the reason why most girls scored higher in a nationwide exam this year than most boys was because the boys were “distracted” by the girls in the room.

I have been harassed and belittled and have been told “boys will be boys” or “you probably said something to set him off”. A friend of mine was r@ped and she was victim blamed and told “The man was just doing what was natural, you shouldn’t have spread your legs so easily.”

I could give more examples but I believe this is enough. I think that male privilege is being put on a pedestal by society, and society blaming mens mistakes on women. Though I don’t think it’s as common in America it still exists. And it’s VERY common in countries in Asia.

Males have a smaller chance of getting harrased/assaulted/raped when the go outside.

Women have a smaller chance of getting a job because they have a period once a month and have to stay home (sometimes).

Women also have a smaller chance of getting A job because if they get pregnant they have to go on maternity leave and that has to be payed by the boss or company they work for. ( I know men go on maternity leave asiel but for a much shorter period of time.)
