It's almost over now so I decided to share with you ladies a few of the things I did and learned while my man was away for studies.

Don't take disrespect from anyone

Decide where the limit is and don't tolerate that anyone crosses it. This is in regard to jokes or off-colored comments about you two being apart and if you take notice, it comes from people who are either single or in unhappy relationships. I quickly made a paralel to when kids in elementary school make fun of each other: they're just jealous

Run away from catty girls that will try to plant seeds of distrust. Stay close to few good friends and organize things to do together (see below) to help you get through this tougher time. If you live close to home, your parents are also great to add to your support network and to do fun things together

Be busy

He's going to be busy with whatever reason he's going away for, so be busy yourself. It keeps you from too much time alone (possibility of longing and sadness) and it gives you something to talk about when he asks how was your day. If he's stressed out from work or whatever it can be quite relaxing to hear a nice story from something nifty you did.

Ideas: plan activities with your closest friends like going to a new restaurant or going out for bowling or whatever. Sign up for clubs and try nice exciting things.

Be understanding and flexible

He probably won't have time to be online a lot talking to you. A tip another user gave me is let him set the rate of communication, no questions asked. This would stop me from pleading for five more minutes, which would annoy him and wouldn't make things better for me.

Be laid back about this when he's too busy to talk by being busy yourself or sending one message with something sweet and upbeat like "Thinking of you. Have some kisses to make work go better :* ". After that go be busy yourself.

Include him

This will be easy when you tell him about your day but don't forget to say when other people have mentioned him and whenever you wished he was there for whatever reason. One of his friends invited me along for a get-together and kept talking about how it would have been more fun if he had come too. He was so happy to hear he's missed :)

On another note, show him what you're doing, be it a new dish or craft or if you bought new underwear. Don't bombard him with pictures but some could help you remain his soft place to land when he turns on the internet at home. Talk about cheery things too

Make plans

You'll both love making plans for stuff to do when he comes back like planning dates or places you will go or anything you want. These plans can be very detailed for extra fun, even if you don't go through with them (the nice ones, because you should go through with the naughty ones for real)

Work on your girl game

Whether you want to include him on the progress or make it a surprise this timw apart will be an awsome oportunity to work on your girl game. Don't be afraid to show your vulnerable side (to close true friends), try some new dishes and learn new cooking techniques, read up on what colors suit you best and clean out your closet, get a makeup consultation from a beauty-store that fits your taste if you're unsure about your makeup skills, work out, the possibilities are endless!

So be busy maximizing your SMV and have fun doing it!

This isn't by far all I learned/did these months but I guess they were the most important, especially giving him space and trust, disregarding mean spirited people and staying close to understanding people. Let me know if you've got any quetsions or if I forgot something important
