I just saw this article about a film-in-the-making called "The Red Pill." I was wondering if you guys knew about it.

The title The Red Pill refers to a scene in the Matrix, when Keanu Reeves’ character takes the red pill to see “the truth” – MRAs [Men's Rights Activists] claim they see the “truth” about women and a world they feel is systematically stacked against men and boys.

Did the MRA inspire TRP? Or vice versa?

“When I started this project, my perception of MRAs was definitely negative,” she tells me. “I thought they’d say shocking things and it would be a peek inside this mysterious, misogynistic community. All I knew about them was the cherry-picked, shocking comments used on feminist websites."

The filmmaker, Cassie Jaye, started with funding from feminists, but as soon as they discovered Cassie was becoming sympathetic to the MRA, her funding "dried up" and she turned to crowd fundraising.

But then something incredible happened: via a Kickstarter fund, a “global army” of 2,732 free speech advocates (of both genders), raised a staggering $211,260, ensuring the movie’s cinematic release.

Is this somehow "telling" of the population's desire to understand the culture of men? Or a small portion of the population, at least...

“I’ve gotten a lot of emails from people high up in the film industry who not only support it, but even wanted to make it, but they felt it would be career suicide."

Why is there such a stigma about it?

I thought this would be an interesting topic of discussion.
