Most parents say that raising children is the most rewarding work that anyone can do. On the other hand, office work can be some of the most boring work.

In the past women raised children, while men worked outside the home. Now that women are asserting dominance in the workplace, it would only be fair that men would be allowed to take over the rewarding work of raising children.

But the reality is that women demand to be dominant both in the workplace and in the home.

The issue is that the great majority of women tacitly support -- and personally reap -- the privileges born of feminism even if they may legitimately not agree with what they perceive as its "mere radical edges."

For one reason or another, little girls, and the women they grow into, are never fully sated with what they have now; if they were, entire sectors of the economy would not even exist. And thus, "equality" exists on an individual level, for most selfish women, as "whether or not it was given to me."

Unfortunately, women are encouraged to be selfish for themselves, to love and cherish and treasure themselves. Be powerful! Be a diva! Every darling princess is raised being told that she deserves to go to school and ~~rack up as much debt as possible~~do whatever she dreams of doing. And so getting that college degree becomes a checkbox in the forever list of next-things-to-want, and it's simply unfair if some man takes her spot.

What I have yet to unpack is the feminist belief in the magical time-transitive nature of experiences. The specifics have never been made clear to me. Are the experiences of women who died hundreds of years ago dumped immediately on a newborn baby girl, or is there some sort of delay before she personally experiences all the harms every woman has ever imagined suffering? Similarly, too, for boys: Are they literally born with sin, or do they earn it after exiting the vagina? Inquiring minds want to know, because giving women preference in college today is based on the idea that some other women in the past weren't given preference, or something.

tl;dr: It will never be enough until there is nothing left for men at all, because the people making the judgment about equality always want what they don't have.

Worth noting that a lot of the inequality years were likely due to men getting free college en masse.

many of the middle class jobs more often chosen by women (nursing, schoolteaching, early childhood education(!)) have begun to require a university qualification, while those more often chosen by men have not (mechanic, electrician, builder).
from 1960 the oral contraceptive pill made a career in many of the professions that require a long period of study possible for women without celibacy - medicine, the law, etc.

These things probably account for most of the change, and neither of them are sexism.

Is there a good source for this? There are academic studies that claim men do worse in school pretty much everywhere, and throughout history.

In the United States this isn't true though. And this has been documented pretty heavily by people like Christina Hoff Sommers (who even wrote a book about this, The War Against Boys, which essentially claims that feminists went too far in their campaign to make things "equal").

Modern day gender feminists are quick to snap back that men are just dumber and can't sit still, but stuff like this provides a good counter argument to that. On the issue of men doing worse worldwide, the reason is because most countries have adopted a Western, US style education system from after it was reformed by feminists.

This doesn’t speak anything about equality or proves institutions are favoring men or women.

This just says there were more men earning degrees and now more women earn degrees.

It’s true that women did not have as much rights in the past and were expected to be at home, but I don’t like the claim that this proves institutions favor women over men (even if it’s true) because the data is not proving anything. There are so many variables at play.

Basically, it’s like the wage gap claims, they can say they earn more degrees but earn less money so therefor this proves there’s a wage gap. When actually, the majority of these degrees are worthless.

See?

You need a little more data or you’ll end up sounding just like a feminist.
