I am still new to this subreddit and want to know how RPW approach a very specific issue: drug abuse. I want to apologize in advance if this is an uncomfortable or inappropriate topic for this subreddit. I really want to know how I can apply RPW methods to possibly save my relationship, but most importantly, myself.

My significant other and I were on and off for 3 years before a more serious romantic relationship developed last year, this is also around the time he stayed sober and managed to become someone I consider "high value" - • makes majority of the household income (college education, MBA) • religious & family oriented • attractive The list of pros can go on and on... However, his drug use (aka addiction to heroin) prevented him from living a "normal" lifestyle and when he is not clean, I can't help but think I deserve better. When he is using and in withdrawal, he is not the high-value man I want to marry and procreate with. The contrast between him being sober and in active addiction is very bold and unhealthy for the both of us.

We have lived together for 6 months now and there have been many ups and downs. We live a comfortable lifestyle for how young we are, I am 21 and he is 26. Right now, what is keeping me in the relationship is primarily financial. When he is sober, he is a wonderful provider and someone I see myself building a home and creating a family with. Except... he has been using heroin for the last two months and is currently in withdrawals, trying to get sober and change his ways yet again.

Since he started using, I have been making my priority and focus self-improvement. I see the changes in my mind and body. It has been a wonderful experience. However, it seems that whatever I do cannot make up for what is happening behind closed doors. Does that make sense?
