The topic of circumcision is frequent on this sub with the majority opposed to the procedure. It is a popular opinion that using ‘aesthetic’ as an argument for circumcision is disgusting. This is a strong point, but seems to be lost on many with the hypocritical dialogue I frequently see. Many that are against circumcision also point to their preference in appearance of an uncircumcised penis, or share their opinions of disdain for circumcised ones. While these opinions may come from a progressive mindset, they ultimately dilute this dialogue and further trivialize this issue. As a community, how can we shame the idea of making this decision based on ‘aesthetic’ if many of us are also hung up on which version of the penis looks better? In addition to diluting our dialogue, it shames the men who had this procedure done against their will. There is nothing wrong with men that are circumcised, and they shouldn’t be made to feel that way based on the decision of their parents.
