I would love to hear that conversation. If a woman wears PJs on a first date, how much worse can it get after a few months of dating? Armpit hair? Mustache? Showers once a week? Sounds to me like the guy dodged a big bullet.

Girls have this funny theory on "dressing down." They think that if they wear a T-shirt, sweat pants, and flip flops (or in this case, pajama pants) instead of a tight dress and heels, they won't be judged by normal standards of dressing and appearing hot, since it's clear that they are deliberately dressing down. They think there's this whole secondary tier of being judged by the dressed-down standards.

But that whole dressing down thing was started by celebrities and super-models who look absolutely hot no matter what they wear, or are carefully staged in makeup and a camera pose to make that pair of jeans and T-shirt look absolutely sexy. They look good dressed down because...they look good. This isn't to say that "normal" woman can't look good dressed down, too, but they're still gauged by the real world standards, not the second-tier, didn't-bother-trying-but-guess-what-you're-still-competing standards.

I used to get that a lot when I was younger. Either that or brought her friends with her. I'd dress up in appropriate wear for Applebees or Applebees-like places I'd have a girl come in with like 3 friends expecting a free dinner wearing track pants or some shit like that, no make-up, and a hoodie. First couple of times I was still TBP so I paid, but didn't try for a second date, third time I didn't order, I just walked out. Fourth time, I paid for my own meal and walked out. (They got in deep shit. How can you be 22 years old and think bringing your friends to a date is a good idea?)

It's just that "I can get away with anything and still have someone call me princess" mentality that needs to be tapered away from. If you're trying to get someone to pay for your friends' meals on a fucking date, can't have the decency to dress up? You're too far gone. Enjoy the wall, bitch.

Semi relevant story.

I used to be a bouncer in a strip club for a while. After quitting the job on good terms, I would pop in for the free drinks and the massive pre-selection that came from knowing all the staff there. There was a new waitress there that had posed for some playboy calendar. Keeping the story short, she kept asking me to go out with her sometime but I kinda played coy because I felt like she was a bit out of my league (I was kinda purple pill those days). Finally I agreed to go out and take her number.

We agree to meet, and she makes it clear we can do whatever but she didn't have a chance to eat and wanted to grab some food at some point. So we meet at a pub. I arrive and open my tab. She arrives 20 mins late. She was grocery shopping next door. She arrives in a dirty white tee shirt, purple sweatpants, and her hair a mess. Now mind you, I've seen her dolled up for work and topless a few times. So I know what she is capable of. So I'm like whatever, I'm already here. For 1.5 hours she talks about her two dogs. How one dog is hers, and the other dog belongs to the dog she owns. I tried to change the subject and she kept bringing it back. I thought she was kidding or trolling but she wasn't. We finish up and head out. Shes like so where to now? I looked at her, and said I'm going home to watch a movie. Shes asks what we are watching. I was like we aren't watching anything, because I'll probably be out half way through... 'night.

tl;dr went out with strip club waitress, ex-playboy calendar girl who showed up in purple sweatpants, dirty clothes, and talked about her dogs for 1.5 hours.

If a woman was excited for a date with some guy and he didn't even bother to put on pants for her, she would be devastated at how little he cared about her. There would be a fucking support group and studies class about it.

My girlfriend showed up to our first date wearing sweats. She also doesn't wear makeup, so I thought about not going on a second date. I'm a pretty nice guy, so I decided to give her a second chance, and it turns out she looks good naked, which is all that really matters.

But really, if you don't put at least a little effort into looking good for the first date then you can't complain when you don't get a second one.
