More surprising were the male responses. Sixty-one percent of male respondents believe that Pekgoz’s complaint has at least some grounds, while 12 percent of the 61 percent claim that the complaint is absolutely justified, and 26 percent responded that they have been sexually discriminated against on campus.

It's surprising because you live in a gynocentric dream world which prevents you from seeing how the world looks like for the worse-off gender.

[–]Canredd 14 points15 points16 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Speaking of gynocentric dream worlds:

A majority of females — 78 percent — believe that Pekgoz’s complaint is completely unjustified.

I guess when every institution and 90 percent of media outlets tell you you are an oppressed victim due to your sex you eventually come to believe it. I'm actually pretty surprised so many men are finally waking up given the relentless propaganda.

The author of the article is a bold faced sexist. She writes:

There exists a gap of approximately 70 years before the emergence of the internet gave birth to the so-called “manosphere,” a dark hole of blogs and websites and forums populated by infuriated men empowered by their sudden online anonymity.

[–]skepticalbob -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Imagine literally believing this.

[–]TheShShCreature 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Imagine denying the fundamental truth that modern western women are the most privileged class to possibly ever exist. Justice system unabashedly favors them, winners of custody far more than men, alimony, statistically far easier work, consistent stay at home life, better mental health, no forced conscription, earlier retirement, despite a longer life span, privileged in every facet of education, greatly less likely to die or even suffer cancer than men, despite the majority of funding efforts going to female disorders, money grants that advance women in fields they already dominated, and finally 51+ % of US CEOs are female.

[+]skepticalbob -9 points-8 points-7 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Imagine believing a cherry-picked list of an activist is useful.

[–]TheShShCreature 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

What’s your rational stating otherwise. Saying my list is “cherry picked” is the most unoriginal lazy way to dismiss a comprehensive summary.

[+]skepticalbob -9 points-8 points-7 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If you don’t understand the critique, you aren’t worth my time. I’ll pass.

[–]TheShShCreature 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your “critique” came with no meat, nothing to ‘understand’ you just simply said it was cherry picked. I don’t think you’re worth your own time if all your argument are “imagine if”s and substance-less dismissals.

[–]grandmasbroach 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You lose. Next time maybe try to form a logical or rational argument instead of the classic, fingers in ears lalalalalalalalalalala! Because that is exactly what you just did.

[+]skepticalbob -7 points-6 points-5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If this is where you “win”, you are the loser.

[–]grandmasbroach 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wasn't involved in this and that was my only comment to you. You got owned and I felt it necessary to point out. Have a good day!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If you take the scientific indicators of welfare and quality of life and then compare women to men it's very clear which sex is far better-off ("scientific" refers here to social sciences, naturally). And, so, women are on average happier, too.

But the gynocentric narrative is one of the main narratives people share. And it lies that the world is the other way around, it's women who are worse-off and should be helped and protected. And when they are helped and protected they'll get even more better-off.

This has nothing to do with cherry picking. The approach is actually the opposite of cherry picking.

And this is the "dream world" many - privileged - women and men live in.

Probably you know nothing about all this. But is it really your fault? People like you are fed all kinds of feminist lies. And because lazy and ignorant people tend to believe what they are told, well, this is the result.

I could go on explaining all this in more detail but because that wouldn't lead to anything I won't. Digesting ideas that dramatically differ from the conventional narratives is extremely difficult. Then again, if you don't even try - that is your fault.

[–]skepticalbob 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Funny how most men don't see this. We must be stupid or something. Its just so obvious, right? Of course you presented nothing against your position and pretend to present "analysis". But that's science, right? Oh wait, science doesn't work like that. Carry on.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because I know that lazy and ignorant people like you don't understand that there are different kinds of sciences taught and studied, I particularly mentioned that I was talking about the social sciences. Stupid people can claim on the internet to the end of the world that social sciences don't exist but that doesn't make them disappear.

Neither will the fact that women are better off - according to scientific studies and statistics - disappear even though stupid people immersed in the hegemonic narratives told and retold from a gynocentric anlge are lost.

Because you can't win you preserve your dignity and identity by pretending that you are talking down to people who are so inferior that you don't have to argue with them. And why not? Most people do exactly that when they face unplesant truths.

[–]skepticalbob 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So you can't present an argument against your position. Got it. Carry on, science dude.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists and even non-feminist women have worked hard to establish a gynocentric education system. Anything that threatens it must be attacked by all means possible.

[–]Akesgeroth 25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No. Affirmative action is a travesty. Two wrongs don't make a right, don't fight for it.

[–]mrstickman 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fighting for an unfair advantage to be applied to men is how you destroy it.

[–]Tedesche 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article spends no time on that quote beyond mentioning it. I’m not sure why OP used it in their title. The piece is mainly just about the fact that Yale was accused of violating Title IX in favor of women, and face a history to the MRM in the process. Pretty unbiased article, to be fair.

[–]p0rnpop -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh, would you look at that. As soon as affirmative action stops meaning to shit on white men and actually means helping them, we see people come out of the woodwork saying its time to do away with it.

Fuck that shit, time for men to get all the advantages they've been denied.

"the emergence of the internet gave birth to the so-called “manosphere,” a dark hole of blogs and websites and forums"

We're in a dark hole, guys. Contributing reporter, CANDICE WANG thinks so, anyways.

[–]Imnotmrabut[S] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I love how the internet emerged and wasn't constructed. I fear that the feminine bias to the biologies has many thinking everything is like mushrooms and emerges overnight.

Of course if she used "the Construction Of The internet" - or "the Expansion Of The Internet driven by commerce" she would just not be able to frighten the children with her horror fairy tale.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also the internet “gave birth”. It’s a female internet. Sadly one of it’s children was that deformed cripple, the manosphere... a nebulus hades encircled by a necroticly bubbling stew of incels, neckbeards and other not-hot guys she doesn’t want to date.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

“There has been a men’s scholarship program for a few centuries,” said Homans. “There has been a men’s studies department for a few centuries. "

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They let a feminist professor talk as if she was a reliable and rational person. LOL.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Retributional feminism. Because women used not to have the vote, FUCK ALL THE MEN NOW, TODAY.

But I guarantee you , if you call her on this opinion, she will flee back to her bailey and claim feminism is only about 'equality', and does not contain an atom of vindictive misandry born of historical grievances.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not only did women not have the vote but a lot of men didn't either. They seem to "forget" that fact.

[–]Canredd 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They also forget that most women opposed female suffrage until the early 20th century. As soon as a majority said that wanted it men gave it to them. And they gave it to them without requiring women to fight and die for the state.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That was a class struggle thing rather than a feminism thing. Feminism had fuck all to do with women getting the vote. The so called lower classes had had quite enough of being canon fodder for idiot kings after the slaughter of the great war and demanded the franchise over the implied threat of revolution.

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminist logic: when only men are allowed to attend then all scholarships are male scholarships. When only men are allowed to make / do things then all studies are men's studies. Of course if you look at attendance data women have been performing advanced studies for a long time. Regardless of who wrote books and studied things in the past if you ignore things because of who wrote / did them then you are the one missing out on education.

[+]QuasisLogic1 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

What’s the point. Why do we need to boost a particular gender. Just look and reward the best

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So long as the education system favors girls and women something should be done.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Careful with using that word "the best" around Yale. Literal Nazis will be included in the mix, and they'll be virtue signalling out their ass like a fucking lightning bug during mating season.

This sub: Women just aren't as good at certain jobs, so we can ignore gender bias explanations for any pay differences.

Also this sub: Men aren't given the correct climate for education and so it is gender bias as an explanation for any school differences.

Be consistent. For the record, I believe that climate has an effect on both.

[–]galtthedestroyer 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That's a false premise. We say women aren't as interested in some jobs that pay well like crab fishing and engineering. A second separate claim is that they're not as good at the physically demanding jobs like fire fighter and combat soldier. The third claim about gender bias in school is shown in grade records over time.

Get over yourself skeptical Bob.

[–]skepticalbob -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Who is we?

Men aren’t as interested in school. Men aren’t as good at school. The same lazy bullshit that conveniently allows you to make up a just so story happens with both. You are just more charitable to men than women.

[–]DepressiveVortex 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Statistics I have seen show that teachers grade girls higher than boys for the same work, and that this bias is removed when the teacher does not know the child's gender.

[–]skepticalbob 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And statistics I’ve seen have female names with identical resumes getting hired at a lower rate than male names. Seems similar, eh?

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We the people of this sub.

[–]skepticalbob -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just to point out to people that might not catch what you did, ignored what I said, and pretended to speak for everyone on this sub while disagreeing with someone on this sub. Can't make this shit up, my dude.

Carry on.

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not pretending to speak for every single person on this sub. I was obviously referring to the majority opinion. I was especially not counting trolls who just come here to poke us, as a part of us.

I ignored the rest of what you said because it needs elaboration, and because I wasn't interested in addressing it. You seem to be more civil and rational in other subs, but here you throw both out the window.

[–]valenin 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men aren't as interested in school.

Until very recently, the academic establishment was almost entirely established, attended, and dominated by men.

Or are we walking back 'muh patriarcy didn't let women go to college' for this one because it's convenient?

[–]TheShShCreature 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Climate” so I take it a woman’s educational climate is defined by grants and privileges that only catapult her further?

[–]Imnotmrabut[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Darling - please don't just "This Sub..." and run and hope it won't get noticed.

Such lazy hit and run adds little. If you have an argument, give it and reasons.

[–]skepticalbob -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just made it. No one seemed to have a decent answer. So step up, sweetie pie.

[–]Imnotmrabut[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just made it.

What? Another dog's breakfast?
