Because then women are given free reign to use violence against men; when she does, he's conditioned not to defend himself; and of course no one else is going to jump in and help him, like they do when men attack women, either. So then men are basically defenseless against assaults by women

In this case he at least ought to break up with her. But then he probably has the same idea too many people do that women hitting men isn't really domestic violence

That guy was really patient, obviously trying to be reasonable. Walking away was definitely the correct choice in the end.

I'm less concerned about the patrons and more concerned about the facility staff. Don't places like this often have a bouncer or some such who's specific job it is to kick out people displaying this behaviour.

This is sad, because it happens too much. No one cares as women attack men acting like infants. The all too common discourse is "what did he do to make her mad" bullshit. If he were to defend or fight back the next common discourse is "men shouldn't hit women because they are stronger" just as ever one did to Ray Rice. Women are held to no accountability as if they are so infantile they should not be held responsible for their actions, see Serena Williams and most recent example.

I think it should be equally socially unacceptable for a male to hit a female in this way.

Edit: Point I'm making is men get their actions exaggerated. Anything done by him would mean she's getting drinks paid for, escorted out by security, and he'll be nursing a concussion and some lacerations at the hospital.
