This is to address the widespread belief among some Western MRAs that women are oppressed in 3rd world 'shitholes'. Since I've been warned by mods not to "spam" the sub with Global Gender Gap Index figures, I think it's best to just present my own country's statistics. I hope this is not spamming.

I live in Serbia, which is close to a 3rd world shithole country. Average salary is less than 500 USD, unemployment and corruption is rampant and things are not looking up. So, all set for oppression of women, right?

Well....

Women make up almost 40% of national assembly.

Prime minister is a woman and a lesbian.

Women make 2/3 of all judges, 2/3 of Supreme Court judges, and 3/4 of municipal court presidents.

Wage gap is only 10%, which is less than in USA and Europe.

There are more women in STEM than in USA and Europe.

Women make almost 60% of university graduates, and about 50% of professors.

Every single lawyer I know is female.

Women make up a huge majority of primary (85%) and secondary school (65%) teachers. Girls also do better in primary and secondary schools than boys.

Women get custody in 95% of divorces.

Women are far less likely to get murdered than in USA, and a little less likely than in Canada. (4 in Serbia, 10 in USA, 5 in Canada, per million per year)

Incidence of rape is the lowest in the world (together with Japan).

Women who commit infanticide get 5 times shorter sentences than men (because of postnatal depression or something).

Abortion laws are among the most liberal in the whole world.

Fertility rate is lower than in USA or Western Europe. (<1.5 in Serbia, 1.8 in USA, 1.6 in EU)

And yes, we're ranked above USA in Global Gender Gap Index Rankings (0.727 Serbia, 0.718 USA)

PS. Oh, I didn't even bother you with suicide stats, homicide stats, workplace deaths and injuries, life expectancy gap, homelessness, draft, circumcision and sentencing. Your welcome.
