This is a problem, I had a problem with my dick and had to see a doctor and I had to speak to a female doctor it’s so uncomfortable, it’s also kinda hard to say id prefer a man when they go on a last name basis

[–]NibblyPig 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I sometimes ask for a male doctor when and they always say 'sure' and go ahead like it's no big deal. Mostly that's because I saw a woman doctor who was godawful and when I went back I didn't want to see her again and I couldn't remember her name.

[–]firesnow69 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

My female doctor made a joke like “I’m sure you don’t want me to examine it now haha”

Sexual harrassment.

sexual harrasment

Lighten up a bit, if we can all just take a small joke for a bit, everything would be a little bit better

My dad was a male nurse who was basically fired and sued (settled for some money) the college since the reason he was fired was for a joke like this.

edit: the reason probably had more to do with his activism/perceived race (nothing to do with MRM but don't want to be more specific) but that's what was used as the reason. Your only hint will be "Canada"

When I had to have a lump checked, my wife got pissed off at me that it was a female doctor (the only kind they offered) that checked it.

[–]superhobo666 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I bet she would have no problem with a male doctor feeling her up for lumps.

By that rationale, you'd be gay if you saw a male doctor. Your wife get waxed? Is she a lesbian?

Haha that’s never going to happen. She knows I wish she would.

Obviously everyone has a different experience but I have no problems giving "embarrassing" details to my doctor, and she's a woman.

[–]tdltuck 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I live in a non-English-speaking country. I went to the hospital a couple years back for what ended up being a panic attack, but I was certain that my heart was failing (history of it in my family. Probably the root of my anxiety). Once the doctor told my translator that my heart was fine and it was a panic attack, the 4 or 5 nurses within earshot who all happened to be female had a nice giggle. The doctor did too. So did my translator who was my immediate supervisor.

No one should have second thoughts about seeking help. This kind of shit doesn’t support that idea.

Feminists don’t understand that men bottle up feelings because it’s women, not men, who’d mock us.

[–]fadsfsghkkhdafsd 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women nurses gossip about male genitalia. They make fun of the small ones and gawk over the big ones. They're supposed to be professionals. Even if they don't say anything, you know they still think it.

Kind of like how many women gossip over the same thing. Women don't have boundaries. Neither do liberal men.

But everything is men's fault. They need to go get humiliated by "care" staff.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women don't have boundaries.

I experienced this several times in health care.

I complained about one, she got investigated and reprimanded.

Men don't be afraid to file a complaint.

Any of the following

Trouble peeing. Takes a long time (but like 2 to 3 minutes to pee)

Always feeling as though you need to go to the toilet but then not having any urine when you go.

Lower back pain is also a sign.

Burning pain when peeing or ejaculating

Blood in urine or semen.

A rising or very high PSA count.

Female patients are always asked if they want female nurses or doctor for intimate procedures. This includes being washed and catheter changes.

There are not enough male medical staff to give men the same choice! So male dignity is ignored.

This puts a lot of males off using the NHS

[–]LD1996 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More men should be encouraged into nursing, and medical degrees.

[–]Mencite 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well men are belittled if they do ask for privacy/dignity so they're mostly afraid to ask for it. They're made to feel petty, unmanly or even misogynistic.

[–]fischestix 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also false positive testing and overly aggressive treatment that leaves men impotent is a bit of a deciding factor.

[–]darkowen1212 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do Movember each year in Australia and this year i raised money and awareness for prostate cancer treatment. I wanted to see how difficult it was to get help and was very pleased with the process overall.

You can go and see any preferred doctor (a lot who bulk bill) and they will assess your symptoms, order a blood test if necessary and then refer you to a urologist if required. Basic guidelines are as follows; - men over 40 with a family history should start getting tested - men over 50 should get a blood test yearly which is free - if you are in either of these categories speak to your doctor as prostate cancer can have little or no symptoms so you need to be proactive - a positive blood test is usually followed by a rectal exam, biopsy and MRI - 3000 men die each year from prostate cancer (Australia)

Hope all men can have the best possible care but the key is to see your doctor

[–]iainmf 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are still dying of prostate cancer because they are too embarrassed to visit a doctor.

Doctors are still not accounting for men's needs and are letting men die. FTFY

Seriously though, this is the basic issue: Men are seen as having agency and therefore the things that happen to them are their own fault, and women are seen as having no agency so the things that happen to them are societies fault. So to fix men's problems you have to fix men, but to fix women's problems you have to fix society.

In reality, you need to balance individual responsibility and society changes.

Going to the doctor is like taking my car to the mechanic as far as I'm concerned. If they need to check the oil then have at it.

[–]LabTech41 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I work in the healthcare field, so I'm no stranger to being surrounded by women. While the women who I work with in the lab are something of a rarified breed, there are days where even the smart ones make a shift like dancing on egg shells. Outside of the lab is usually far worse; every time there's a problem where the workflow has hit a snag, I can track it down to women being women.

I've had female doctors start arguments with me when I'm trying to get something done on my end, and they're more concerned with some nebulous and abstract concept of covering their own ass than the healthcare process. The nurses are sadly much worse, because whereas the older generation of nurses that my mother was a part of are salt-of-the-earth people who almost never cause problems (and when they do it's honest mistakes that I don't blame them for), the younger generation of nurses that are replacing them as they retire are honestly some of the worst people I've ever met. Lazy, ignorant, and far more interested in their phones than handling basic work tasks, if I have a problem with getting a sample or a test done, 9 out of 10 times it's because of one of these amateurs. What annoys me is that they're essentially parasitizing the reputation that the previous generations of nurses built over lifetimes of hard work; they're pissing through it because the notion of being competent and hard working are anathema to at least a quarter of them. It's not across the board, but it's enough of them that I doubt the public's opinion of nurses as a profession to put on a pedestal will last too much longer.

Women naturally gravitate towards certain fields, the countries with the most gender equality proves this, but it's the QUALITY of women that's really gone in the shitter in the last couple years, and anyone who's not paying attention to this does so at their own peril. This current trend is a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off. Just as ANY male nurse and they'll confirm it.

[–]RedPillAlphaBigCock 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I actually don't see a problem here - I'm Irish and I have had amazing woman doc's and nurses - no issues at all

[–]Rolten 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think there's a general problem either. However, if I have a intimate problem then it's nice if you have the possibility to request a male doctor.

Balance is also always good. When I was in the hospital for a week I had almost only female nurses. Which was just fine, they were lovely, but somewhere around the last day I had a dude as nurse. I found him to be a bit less coddling and it was just just dude to dude, made it very comfortable because I was treated more as just a bro than a patient.

Overall I don't have a preference really, but having different types of people is generally not a bad thing, especially when it comes to feeling comfortable in a hospital.

[–]Mencite 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For an intimate exam don't you think men should have the possibility of requesting a male doctor just like women can request a female doctor?

I wonder how the decrease in the number of male doctors will affect recruitment of nurses, given that a significant factor in the job for females is the opportunity to marry a doctor.

It's shit comments like this that give mra's a bad name. That comment is not based at all on facts or reason and is purely steeped in toxicity. Smarten up.

[+]mikesteane -6 points-5 points-4 points 8 years ago* (14 children) | Copy Link

Women want to marry up. (You only need to read through a few personal ads to see plenty of evidence.) They often go for jobs that allow them to do so (airline hostess, bank teller, nurse) with this being something they are actively working towards. While a lot of people do not want to acknowledge this or are scared to say it in case it gives them a bad name, it is nonetheless true. And almost all women know it and actually regard men who think, or pretend to think, otherwise, as losers.

As for it being steeped in toxicity, again you are wrong. It's simply a fact.

[–]joedevice -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Everyone wants to marry up; not just women.

[–]mikesteane 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

Many men would regard it as demeaning not to be the breadwinner and the head of the household. And with good reason. Marriages in which the woman out-earns the man are very unstable. See here, here, here or here

Edit: it is important to recognise these facts because they are important in explaining the earnings gap: it is because a man's sexual market value is strongly dependent on his earning power, whereas female SMV is more strongly related to physical attractiveness, that men are more driven to earn more.

Edit 2: Which one is it then? If everyone wants to marry up this includes women, and my original assertion is validated. If women do not want to marry up then not everyone wants to do so.

Marrying up isn't specific to career earnings.

What man wouldn't want to date a 10 if he was a 7.

Like I said, everyone wants to marry up.

[–]mikesteane 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In the context of this thread, leading on from my comment about women being motivated to become nurses partly by the prospect of marrying a doctor marrying up specifically concerns professional status (not just earnings, but still earnings-related.)

[–]joedevice 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good for you.

[–]clubmedshed -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

As a young millennial men, those articles excite me about the prospect of marrying. Most likely my wife will out-earn me (statistically speaking), with this, ill have a posh urban lifestyle, limited stress, and freedom to explore my interests and hobbies. All for the cheap and easy labor (thanks to technology) of taking care of the kids and home. (By the way, I think the greatest achievement and most noble labor is raising a great human). I’ll be secure from divorce as I won’t initiate it and she’ll be to proud/bitter/entitled to pay out a settlement and alimony and my role in society and it’s perception of me will still be positive.

Older men: do not ruin this for us younger guys and advocate for a change in alimony laws

[–]mikesteane 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do not make this mistake. It is possible that things will work out this way for you, but ask yourself: "At what time in history have women in large numbers supported men?" Far more likely is that the top tier of earners will still be mainly men who will have harems while the rest of you fight like starving dogs for scraps. There are many historical precedents for this scenario, and none for the scenario you believe in or fantasise about.

[–]clubmedshed 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Never in history have women been more educated than men. There is no historical precedent for it, but yet 75% of college graduates will be women and even more advance degrees will be earned by women. The job market implications of that are obvious. On top of that, millennial women out earn millennial men by 8%. My scenario is already happening, it is real. Yours on the other hand is appealing to tradition, which is a logical fallacy.

Edit: on top of that, social engineering from the left will exacerbate the switch

[–]mikesteane 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good luck.

[–]WideExemplification 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i wouldn't hope for that. More likely scenario is that you get a great job, house, car, get fit etc and you get an average looking woman with debt that wants to be a stay at home mom (and has kids already)

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Educated women have a lot of student and personal financial debt.

[–]sfdasdffdssdf 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Everyone wants to marry up; not just women.

This is why I hate feminism and think average Joe is so stupid he isn't worth considering as anything more than cannon fodder.

There is this faux-truth nonsense going around where hard truths for women (they only date up or will stay single, they only date men taller than them or they will stay single, etc.) are played as if they were also truths for men, and it seems almost correct unless you actually think about it and realize that women are much more concerned with these things than men. If a man met a nice cute girl who he got along with he wouldn't dump her because she lost her job, or had less education, etc. Women can and do. Same with height, same with appearance, same with social status, same with mostly everything. Women initiate breakups, they initiate divorce, they are the ones cleaning up with hookup apps, etc, but let's ignore reality. Let's ignore all of that and playpretend because it's politically correct (but ironically won't win us any politics). So women, feminists, and male feminists all paint the two sexes as the same when they couldn't be futher from the truth:

this is where the "marriage crisis" comes from, and if you were less dishonest, more aware, and actually paid attention, you'd know this because it's a massive problem in our culture right now.

But instead you do that feminist thing where you soften the edges of reality until it's not reality at all.

[–]joedevice 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say they're exactly the same.

If I'm a 7 as a man and I could hold down a 7 or an 8 (whatever your criteria - looks, personality, career) almost everyone would rather go with the 8.

Just because women are more concerned doesn't make it untrue that men want to also.

The reality is that women have the chances to marry up and men rarely do. (see the 80:20 rule)

But don't let that trick you that men don't WANT to marry up which I think is what's set you off. You've got confused with 'want' rather than the reality of the situation. Everyone wants to get the best partner they can manage.

Also, you need to chill out.

Talked to a hell of a lot of nurses in my career, I've met 1 who married a doctor out of a few thousand. Nurses tend to prefer men in uniform, police, ambulance, army and other nurses.
Most doctors tend to get involved with other doctors, from the few I've talked to about this.
