Why is so impossible to place a standard in relationships that if you don't want something to happen, you have to say no. If you didn't say no, that's on you. Men cannot be expected to read minds.

Context applies. The lack of a clear No will mean we need to look at the surrounding context, that much is true.

Are they in a stable relationship and was their reciprocal escalation until the sex? Probably not rape.

Was the victim cornered in an alley by a random stranger? Probably rape, even without the no.

Between those two is a mess of other types that need to be examined on a case by case basis, but that would be crazy, you'd need some sort of group of people to decide each case then, since individuals differ on this stuff.

Basically, if you can't convince 12 of your peers, that's that. That's how the justice system works, and doesn't. It's better than alternatives.

This is just wrong. What we first need to do is listen to victims and believe them. We need to show victims empathy by coddling them. If you are raped after failing to say "no" to sex, it isn't your fault! Only the abuser is to blame. The victim is never to blame for her own rape!

Am I doing this right?
