I'm old. I'll admit, almost a fossil. I grew up during an age when complementing anyone, woman, man, boy, girl, was considered a nice thing to do. I still do it. I don't have an ulterior motive.

Perhaps if the only person Ms De La Cretaz colours her hair for is herself, she could avoid potential complements by only going out with her hair covered.

Oh, but then someone might compliment her on her choice of hats. Probably okay if the person giving the compliment is female.

So you stand out like fireworks in a starless night, and yet you are surprised someone comments. Of the hundreds of men that notice your attempt to grab as much attention as possible, maybe one or two comment. And you automatically think it's a line to get in your pants. Maybe it is, but I'm one to say something with no intention beyond giving you a compliment. The fact you find it threatening is unfortunate. But the fact is that I would venture to guess the majority of attention whores like you probably deep down revel in the comments and compliments and would feel alienated and upset if they suddenly stop. Your personal pet peeve against men talking to you isn't a societal standard and shouldn't be judged as a faux pax just because you don't like it. Get over it.
