Women are prominent in fields such as nursing, teaching, social work, therapy, counseling, medical, etc, all of which are incredibly important to society. You could reverse the genders and make jokes about how comedians are just as important as nurses.
How about this? When you get in an accident, who's going to be taking care of you? I don't see road repairmen giving people stitches and administering IVs.
When you're depressed and need a therapist, is a roof repairman going to be the one doing that? No.
Look, your logic was that teachers don't repair roads and nurses don't fix roofs. Road repairmen also aren't teachers and roof repairmen also aren't nurses and electricians also aren't therapists. You're going off on a totally unrelated tangent here.
the idea that females are equally necessary in the workplace is just completely delusional.
Lol what? Okay buddy. Take away all the nurses, teachers, daycare workers, therapists, medical professionals, social workers, etc. and see where society ends up.
You seem to be missing the point. Men can perform all of those jobs while women are physically (and possibly mentally) incapable of performing many of the jobs that men perform.
What jobs are women mentally incapable of performing? You do realize that men and women both have the same average IQ, right?
You should be thanking men for keeping you safe and comfortable, and you should also thank fate for making you the privileged sex.
You should be thanking women for the jobs that we do. :)
Actually, I already pointed out that nurses are also invaluable to society, however the same cannot be said for therapists, particularly for anything non-clinical. Having suffered a brief bout of debilitating depression, I found that the answers were easy, but the execution was difficult.
So physical health is invaluable to society, but mental health is not? What the...
My point was that there is a higher percentage of men in health care, teaching, etc. than there is women in trades and other labor intensive jobs.
That doesn't matter. We're talking about female dominated fields vs. male dominated fields. Nursing and teaching are still seen as "women's work" even though there are men in nursing and teaching.
And just because you're annoying me now, yes, a nurse will take care of me. But so will paramedics, a doctor, possibly surgeon, any of which could be a man, or a woman, it doesn't matter. As long as they can do their job right.
Paramedics have very little medical training and can't do anywhere near as much as a nurse can. Doctors are also becoming female dominated.
And who are most physical healthcare professionals? Oh wait, women.
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND? Paramedics are trained to specialize in on-site health care and resuscitation, and to get the patient to a hospital as quickly and safely as possible. You think a fucking nurse or doctor can do anything at the site of an accident? Basic first aid, CPR, and assisting paramedics.
Nurses and doctors absolutely do more than paramedics, yes. They are much more educated than paramedics in the medical profession.
...What? Daycare is funded by the state? What country do you live in because it certainly isn't America LOL. And who are the ones taking care of the kids in school and daycare? Men?
So women are okay with taking lower pay if it means helping others. Men aren't. Men are more motivated by money.
When it comes to early breast feeding and early child rearing, yes.
When it comes to many professions, yes. Do you seriously think that no female dominated jobs are necessary for civilization? What would happen if no nurses showed up to work for a week?
He was saying that traditional women's work was important (raising kids), but now women have corporate jobs and send their kids to school and daycare, which is ignoring the fact that schools and daycares are, in fact, women's work.
Honestly, providing and maintaining infrastructure, water and electricity is essential. If this came to an end, it would be total havoc withing a few days.
I never said otherwise.
I consider teacher, social worker and therapist as luxury in comparison. We could easily make do without those for several weeks.
Maybe a few weeks. Definitely not a few years. Also, I disagree. Social workers collectively not coming to work for a few weeks would mean that children in abusive homes would endure many more weeks of rape/beating/abuse than they otherwise would have.
There are fields where women are majority and that are essential though, like nursing and certain medical fields, but they are exception compared to the opposite.
Lol I guarantee you that most men are not working essential fields either. Most men are working menial desk jobs or factory jobs like the rest of us.
There is no gender pay gap. Men are just choosing not to go to college and are doing lower paid trade jobs, they're using their increased upper body strength, which is biological. Men are less likely to want to sit around and focus on academics and they want to burn off energy, this isn't valued by employers so much. Trade jobs won't pay as much as jobs that require a degree. Any wage gap for young men is based on their choices not any discrimination. So it isn't real.

Okay, but women are. Not some genderless "the state."
Then why don't men choose to go into these fields?
Men are also essential for reproduction and women are also essential for maintaining and advancing civilization.
