What's even the rationale behind it? Are they assuming all men's sandals are too casual-looking? Considering sandals are much cooler than closed-toe shoes, it reminds of how shorts are against the dress code of that one school, but skirts are not

It seems like the same kind of thing, where if men want to wear cooler shoes, they'll be force to wear women's sandals. It's a dumb policy anyway, because even women's sandals often look very casual. They should have just said "no flip flops or casual sandals", unless there's some other reason they forbid only men's sandals

Nope.. you are not sexist. My boss told us (read me) the same thing. Men wearing sandals is not "professional". If you are a full time employee, go talk to HR and tell them you are being discriminated against.

I've had this problem at work with Shorts for men vs Capris for women.

Some women Capris's cut off just below the knew...but men can not wear shorts that cut off below the knee. Totally Sexist. I am no longer at that office. My current employer rocks.

I remember my old company has instituted in it's policies for men(we were 95% men) that in +25C weather Dress shorts where aloud and expected.

It was even in our contracts so clients could not complain if I was in shorts. Though it was NEVER has issue with my clients, people are generally awesome.

Depends on your state laws. In NY there is no gender dress codes. There are just two dress codes and you must adhere to one of them.

Look up your state laws. Then if appropriate throw on a dress on sandals.

Women at my workplace get away with murder regarding the dress code. I see women dressing down to the point I would get sent home for in a heartbeat.

Yes, that is sexist. Whether this type of sexism is legal or not depends on where you live. In many places, having separate dress codes for the genders is legal.

Women are encouraged to show more skin and that it's somehow more appropriate-- which is sexist.

Ive gotten into several arguments with my boss that I should be allowed to wear a Kilt or Shorts during the hot season since my female coworker is allowed to wear skirts and dresses as long as they are 2 inches above the knee or longer where Im required to wear slacks.
