Why the fuck would they trust the father and stepmother for his aftercare plan when they were the ones who caused his problems? It's treating a sick person then putting him back into the environment that made sick

First the spokeswoman says

But then

Officials in both states remained in regular contact, shared information and continued to talk to the family...child welfare workers thoroughly investigated each reported incident of alleged abuse and neglect.

Meaning both states knew what was happening and had grounds to intervene, but neither did no matter which of the states they were in. Doesn't this invalidate the excuse that officials couldn't do anything because the boy's parents move between states?

They both had the same information, so if the boy was moved before the previous state could do something, the next one could have been ready as soon as they arrived. It really does seem like negligence and a lack of real concern that authorities pretty much did nothing until the boy was already dead

Grandmother had been investigated for killing one of her children a few years before, but volunteered to be a foster mother for her grandchildren. The idiots at Catholic Children's Aid didn't bother to run a background check on her because "she's family, it'll be fine".

I survived abuse, not to this extreme, but still quite terrible.

My little girl is two and a half, my son is due any day now. The more I see my little girl grow and change and interact with the world around her, the less and less I understand the decisions my parents made.

My daughter, once I figured out a way of giving her instant positive reinforcement that she 100% understands and lives for, has changed personality overnight for the better. She does everything within her power to make her mother and I love her. She helps clean up, helps play, helps with small chores, loves to cuddle, etc. Right now, her mother and I are the center of her universe.

I could never imagine harming my child in the manner I was treated. If anyone had done what was done to this boy to my kids, there is no force short of death that would stop me from enacting the strongest revenge I could. It would be anything but Justice. It would be torture and it would be agony for them.

My kids are the greatest gift I've ever had in my 28 years of life, I can't for the life of me understand how anyone could treat a child in that manner. Their young little hearts are typically filled with a deep burning desire to make you, the parent, proud. It's, heinous to think about this happening to anyone. Let alone allowing it to happen to your own child.

I don't believe in hell, but if there is one, I'm sure the cold center of it is waiting for them.

This is an outlier of sickness, depravity, and state failure but it's not an issue of men's rights because there's nothing to indicate that what happened to Adrian was connected to his maleness.

Now, before you get all up in arms, the story of Ame Deal was recently in the headlines again. Her abuse mirrors that in OP's link, but like him, there's nothing to indicate that gender played a role, so it's not a woman's rights issue.

We need to staff these departments with people whose first duty is to care for every child, even if that means sometimes erring on the side of being too protective.

You can make up for being too protective, but no one can make up for a dead child because the relevant authorities didn't do their jobs.

even the lawsuit amount seems disgustingly out of proportion for the facts of the case... only $25000? I guess that's all they think a boys life is worth... the states involved will probably just laugh it off. seems more like the plan is to just get them to settle to make some fast cash...

it should also be pointed out that his real mother wasn't that great either... the reason the father had custody is because she left the boy home alone and got caught!
