So many judges feel that female criminals should get lighter sentences because they have children. Why don't they realize that, if anything, these women should have harsher sentences, to ensure that their children are not subjected to criminal treatment and criminal role models during the children's most formative years?

I'll answer my own question. Misandry and female privilege.

Appealing Against An Unduly Lenient Sentence
Unduly lenient sentence referrals can arise in a number of ways:

• Areas may consider the sentence unduly lenient;

• interested parties including victims or the bereaved may contact the CPS;

• media coverage may prompt the Area to consider the case;

• the Attorney General may also be contacted directly, by MPs, peers, pressure groups or members of the public. In those cases, the AGO will request papers from the Area with casework responsibility for the case.

The referral

Rule 70 of the Criminal Procedure Rules 2013 which came into force on 7 October 2013 governs the procedure to be followed. It requires the written reference to contain specific information about the case.

The information must include the name of the defendant, date and place of the Crown Court decision, relevant verdict and sentence. The CPS case papers must therefore include all these details in a clearly accessible and accurate form.

The further detail required for a submission to the ULS Unit, Special Crime Division is set out below. The submission should be sent to the Unit within 10 days of the date of sentence. This is to allow sufficient time for the ULS Unit and then the AGO to consider the referral within the absolute time limit of 28 days from date of sentence.

Here in the US the percentage of incarcerated women who are mothers is about the same as the male prisoners who are fathers. I have to wonder how much more than 7% of our prisoners would be women if this mommy loophole could be closed. It's really only one facet of the big fat pussy pass all women are afforded in the criminal justice system so it probably wouldn't change that ratio much.
