Y'all should look into the case of Joe Mixon. He's going to be entering the NFL draft this month and a lot of teams aren't even going to consider him because of an instance where he hit a girl who was assaulting him. He is considered by many to be one of the top running backs in this class too. There's a lot of discussion about it in r/nfl if anybody is interested.

Well, that was just a short summary. In any case, its problematic mainly for the fact that he should've de-escalated the situation because hes a strong athletic dude and shes some tiny girl instead of decking her. That and the issue that she broke her jaw and required surgery because she hit a table on the way down. There's a video of the altercation if you wanna check it out.

That shouldn't matter, she assaulted him so he should have the right to defend himself. If she breaks her jaw during an ensuing fall it's tough luck, but she should've known better than assaulting him and it definitely serves her right!

The argument the women use is always the same combination of "oh I am such a helpless little girl" and "his is so much stronger than me". That still doesn't give her the right to assault him and that should be clear, however since many women abuse the sexist views that picture them as untouchables, the assaulted man, essentially the victim, gets fucked over because "one doesn't hit women".

Those women should decide here and now if they want gender equality or special protection but they simply shouldn't have both and that's why I would always defend someone who evidently defended him/herself from assault by any person, be it a woman or man. If that person gets hurt through accident it should be their own fault.

It should be fine to hit a woman if she hits first.

The only reason men don't hit women after the woman has started the fight in the first place is because usually the woman's word is worth more than the mans when it comes to assault, so it doesn't matter if she punched first, the only thing that matters is you punched her.

We all believe in really gender equality so much that the topic of it being fair for a man to hit a woman who's attacking him never comes up because it's just assumed. Yes, the woman. The moment a man retaliates he is on the line for assault, and it's really up to the mercy of the cops and courts on whether he gets punished for self defence or not. You'll almost never see a woman get slapped with assault charges for repeatedly hitting the man before, even with video evidence.

I know how tipped the scales are, I've actually been to court for an assault case as a defendant. I was assaulted on a house boat party first by a women who thought I was someone else, then by her juiced up boyfriend. He ended up serving 30 days and she got probation, even though she started the whole thing. I had a fractured orbital and still get migraines from it over a decade later.

I'm not saying that because a women slaps you, you can throw out a right cross with full power. You left out the most important part of what I said- "within reasonable means"

I'm also Canadian- our legal system is very similar to the US but with arguably far fewer unjust convictions.

Reasonable means don't exist in self defense, in my opinion. If someone assaults you, you should always respond with maximum force until they are subdued or stop. It only takes you being wrong once to die or be crippled, and that's one too many times. You can save your bullshit, but this is one thing I am happy I live in a stand your ground state so I can actually defend myself without jackoffs like you second guessing the worth of my life compared to a woman's.

Darien Long. He deleted his channel after he was arrested and taken to court on charges of assault. His videos spread like wildfire on /r/JusticePorn (before it turned in to a shithole) and made him somewhat of a mini celebrity and started giving him money via GoFundMe so he could upgrade some of his gear. Eventually he began powertripping, whether it was for the views or not is anyone's guess. Keep in mind he's just a mall cop, not a police officer. He overstepped his boundaries multiple times and pretty much uploaded all the evidence needed himself.
