Eugh, I'm young, but I have had my fair share of movies.

Hell, the oldest flicks I have seen date back to 1954! (THEM!)

Back in the 80's is where you had all the 'macho man' super-dudes, rambo, etc.

But we also had the Alien series, with Sigourney Weaver, a BRILLIANT actor, and she portrayed a female character in a remarkably reasonable fashion.

She didn't just punch the alien to bits, like Rambo punches commie scum, she had to out smart it (Hell, the 'big black guy' of the movie was overpowered by the alien!).

Then in the 90's you start getting quite a few more big female actors going about, but frankly they're all pretty good too, some stinkers here and there, but that's in any time period.

But 2000+...Oh god...

With the revelation that companies can make billions by turning shitty novels into movies, we got stuff like Divergent, and Hunger games, in which full grown men (in many cases, ARMOURED and armed grown men, trained for combat), are beaten by a 5'5 girl...

Its one thing to see a 6ft muscled fridge-man beat a bunch of people to death, but at least its KINDA plausible.

I entirely lost interest in Star Wars 7 (The quest for more money), when I realised that the main character was literally good at everything she did, despite having no knowledge on these areas.

Flying ships? She's an ace!

Shooting guns? She's a marksman!

Melee? Apparently capable of being trained 'space wizards' (Sith) without a single showing of previous swordplay.

What's the point of these movies? "Girls can do anything better than men!"?

I'm honestly lost for words on how shit some of these flicks are getting.

For fucks sake, lets look at Rambo, he gets hurt a DOZEN times throughout the movie, and even has to stitch himself up.

Rey? From Starwars 7? Thrown around like a ragdoll, with such force as to go 'she's fucking dead...', and she plops back up with a little fake blood on her head, whoop de doo...

In summary, female characters can be fucking awesome, Vasquez proved this in Aliens.

But modern female characters are 80's B movie heroes, in a 5'5 petite package.

It's why Rey is such a boring character. She doesn't earn anything and breaks the established rules of the universe to make it possible.

Age of Ultron: black widow is captured by Ultron, feminists freak out.

Xmen apocolypse: Mystique is grabbed by the throat, feminists freak out.

But women must be the hero's and the stars, otherwise Hollywood is sexist.

The envitable end result are films with female leads that lack any dramatic tension whatsoever. I'm already dreading star wars episode 8 cause the entire movie I'm just going to be thinking "wow what a dreadful situation they are in, how will rey magic them out of this one?"

I really don't mind female leads, alien is one of my favorite movie series ever. Underworld is awesome. Black widow is a great addition to the avengers. I have high hopes for both wonder woman and Captain marvel.

The thing is even captain America takes his licks. Hollywood has no problem seeing a male lead at the disadvantage to his nemesis. We root for the underdog, that's what makes these movies fun. It's no fun to watch a sci-fi fantasy movie where the underdog is the villian, like the whiny little bitch kylo ren.

One of the worst examples of this was The Intern.

Every man in that was either a piece of shit with an ego and insecurity issues, or a dumb lazy millennial manboy who could barely function in the workplace and just liked video games. Except for De Niro's character who was an old school company man gentleman.

The female director's agenda was SO CLEAR and blatant it was almost nauseating.

I mean, yeah it was a feel good movie, but fuck the way they portrayed men in it.

I had been eagerly awaiting the release of the new World of Final Fantasy game that came out this week, and once my preorder unlocked at 8pm my time (midnight eastern) I eagerly started to play it... it involves twins, one male, one female... guess which one acts like a complete buffoon...

This drives me nuts. Even on the Science channel there is a show where the female scientist is all knowing and can't seem to do wrong and the guy is a complete nitwit and constantly screws shit up. When kids watch this show what kind of message does that give them?

I'm going to play devils advocate, at least in comedies, himbos/bimbos get most of the funniest lines.

Who was the the star of home improvement, Tum Allen or the woman who played his wife? Which of them got the laughs?

Now lets look at TVs funniest bimbo, Candy from Two and Half Men.

She was the funniest, best character the show ever had, had the funniest lines, should have been made a permantant full time character.

And if your an actress or actor in a comedy who wants the funniest lines and ironically you have to be really smart if you want to deliver a himbo/bimbo that's funny and likable and entertaining.

I will say one actor who inverted dumb man/ hot smart wife thing was Actor and comedian Damon Waynes.

One of the main reasons why I just can't bare watch tv or movies anymore. Even in historic settings women and men behave as they are living today, just too ridiculous.

yea, to me, this was George Lucas giving star wars fans the big middle finger. he didn't even write new material, he just took parts of other movies and rewrote then with girl power

While her buddy's Wedge, and Lando take out the Death Star. Then flies off into the sunset with her faithful companion Chewbacca

It's disturbing how clearly the SJWs rule the roost. No studio or producer will greenlight a production that isn't preemptively design to appease them.

It's like communist Russia: artists have to toe the party line. Yes, good work is possible, but its a lot harder.

I can't remember the last time I went to the flicks, but it wasn't last week or even last year. I hardly watch the telly any more (FTA TV in Straya is 20+ channels of crap - 10 copies of 5 channels + 10 shopping), and what with youtube and so on I don't miss it at all. When I do turn it on it's usually cos the internet gremlins are playing up, and I channel surf for a few minutes, give up and play a DVD. In the few minutes I do watch, it's invariably some American shitcom or some American "drama" series or yet another repeat of an Strayan thing I disliked the first time round. All of them seem to feature two things: a "plot" you can read from miles away (or no discernible plot at all); and female lead "characters" who are all clones of each other (and male ones, come to that).

Or maybe those were the commercials. I can't tell the difference any more.
