Maybe I'm old school, but I always have given advice if I feel someone can make their lives easier knowing something, or offering advice to help keep them out of a bad situation. I don't want to get into what just happaned, but not only have I never even heard of the term "mansplaining" before, but it just seems so insulting. I have given advice to many people, and never once got called a sexist. I'm not even talking about a gender sensitive subject, it's just literally a general thing, and something I recommend someone do to stay safe, because I obviously care to have people safe on the road.

This person who accused me of this, then proceeded to ask if I'm single and "no wonder why!". It actually hurt. I have fought for equal rights for years from men women, blacks, whites, gays straights. Imagine my surprise when I'm accused of something. I asked some of my friends what they thought, and it's weird. There's a clear divide over what happened. One co-worker who's very much pro-womens rights, said I was a sexist. Other female co-workers who never really mention anything other than just talking about how the day went, how's life, etc, all said "wow she was a bitch to you" and that what I said wasn't sexist at all. I haven't found one male who agreed with what I was called tonight.

So now I'm just confused. What the hell is mansplaining, and how does someone just simply offer safety advice, without getting insulted, and accused? Am I simply not allowed to talk? I thought the whole point of equal rights was to treat women like I would treat another guy (along with equal pay, etc). But this gives me the feeling that I'm entirely wrong.

All opinions welcome.

(Edit: If it would help, I'll paste the transcript here minus the names, I just didn't know if that was allowed or not.)
