There would be people screaming for the writers head, the writer would be labeled a pedo, demand they be fired, how it would be a "further example of how women are seen throughout the world as sex objects and part of rape culture" and shamed everywhere, yet because it's written about a 16yr old boy, everything is supposedly ok.

This is precisely the problem. So many boys get abused by sick women like this because they legitimately think that what they're doing is just a bit of fun and not predatory at all. Because that's what society tells them.

Yet a man who writes these things about a teenage girl would have been called a pig and fired (and rightfully so). Women should be forced to adhere to the same boundaries. There's no reason for middle-aged perverts to be fantasizing about teenagers so...publicly like this. It gives the illusion that it's acceptable, which it certainly is not.

When we celebrate a child becoming ‘legal’, we’re implying (however jokily) that the only thing preventing us from having sex with them before was the fear of getting arrested.

Which has been status quo for generations. Trying to raise the age of consent has made many more "sex offender' criminals, precisely because it's normal.

I have a 27 year old friend who had a highly sexual relationship with a 19 year old. He's just one year away from being able to legally consent around here, but she should be locked up as a sex predator because she got involved with someone so young, right?

If the ignorant fucks in this sub or in the comments of either article have a problem with the age of consent, then RAISE IT. The age of consent is there to signify that its okay to have sex at that age with anyone of any age older than the age of consent. 16 vs 100, 20 vs 40, etc.

If you view that as wrong, then you need to make the age of consent also relate to "no more than 5 years difference" clause or raise the hard limit, to satisfy all you moral panic twits.
