The phrase 'Men can stop rape' is a feminist mind game. Don't fall for it.

It's time to take the gloves off!We need to open a can of whoop-ass on feminism, and that demands a radically new way of thinking and operating. I have put together some very elementary suggestions on how to go about it. It's a radical paradigm shift, I can assure you.

Turnabout is fair play. Calgary was disgustingly unprofessional (if they had an objection, they should at the very least have refunded the badgers.) and upholding the banning without an attempt to live up to their own responsibilities reeks of bad faith and a lack of due diligence either way, much less harassing them by calling the police on them while they were sitting in an unrelated public space.

This lack of accountability is very bad for business in general.

Edit: Apparently, it's not a new thing for them and they absolutely should be censured for horrible conduct.

Steven Britton:

So, here is what I think you should do if you’re considering volunteering with Calgary Expo:

Don’t.

Here is what I think you should do if you’re considering attending Calgary Expo:

Don’t.

Here is what I think you should do if you’re considering sponsoring Calgary Expo:

Don’t.

Here is what I think you should do if you’re considering being a celebrity guest at Calgary Expo:

Don’t.

Here is what I think you should do if you’re considering having a booth at Calgary Expo:

Don’t.

Calgary Expo relies on people like you. They rely on a massive volunteer base to work for free for an entire weekend, so their ownership can make some money and put on the next year’s show.

After the way they treated the Honeybadgers this year, and after the way they treated me the year before, and, by their own admission I might add, a number of other volunteers, I think you want to ask yourself this question:

Are they worth it?

The answer, very simply, is “no.”

They're a group of (mostly? female) writers and media creators who are very supportive of the Men's Rights Movement and Gamergate. They were kicked out of Calgary expo for "disruptive behavior", though there is significant evidence to believe the action was politically motivated.

Here's their website.

Damn, this is why I love this sub. Someone asks a question, gets a factual answer. No sweeping assumptions, no inaccuracies.

For the record, the HoneyBadgers are all women.

[–]TheRealTigerMan 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are not all women although the group is female led and originated.

You know Karen Straughan, e.g. /u/girlwriteswhat? It's a group she co-founded with two other girls with a similar anti-feminism policy.

Never saw that comment from Sarkesian before (or don't remember) but it shows how ignorant of culture she is since she is supposedly a culture critic of some sort, since Japan never left their traditional values. But good on Japan for having no tolerance for these hypocrites.

Feminists must lose their shit when Kawasaki celebrates Kanamara Matsuri (festival of the steel phallus).

I've been to the Kawasaki Festival and it's awesome! The legend behind it is rather interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanamara_Matsuri

Kanamara Matsuri:

The Shinto Kanamara Matsuri (かなまら祭り?, "Festival of the Steel Phallus") is held each spring at the Kanayama Shrine (金山神社, Kanayama-jinja ?) in Kawasaki, Japan. The exact dates vary: the main festivities fall on the first Sunday in April. The penis, as the central theme of the event, is reflected in illustrations, candy, carved vegetables, decorations, and a mikoshi parade.

The Kanamara Matsuri is centred on a local penis-venerating shrine. The legend being that a sharp-toothed demon (vagina dentata) hid inside the vagina of a young woman and castrated two young men on their wedding nights. As a result, the young woman sought help from a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon's teeth, which led to the enshrinement of the item. This legend in Ainu language was published as "The Island of Women" by Basil Hall Chamberlain

That's a very generous offer from Mark. I lived in Japan for 2 years and I loved it there, very friendly people and beautiful countryside. If you go, try to get out of Tokyo and see the country a bit. I can offer plenty of suggestions.

Nothing brings a tear to the eye quite like solidarity.

[–]blueoak9 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From Steve Britton: "No “evidence” ever got produced, of course. The panel discussion they cited was certainly not disrupted, nor was it derailed, nor were the panelists harassed or attacked, The proof is here, on YouTube. As you will hear, the individual was given permission to speak, and spoke very politely and respectfully to the panelists."

Where else have we seen this pattern? This sounds a lot like the campus rape kangaroo courts.

The quote from A.S. you provided in the video demonstrates that she has no concept of Japanese culture and history.

[–]anonlymouse 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I look forward to that twitter announcement.

Why would the TGS care about Calgary Expo's conduct? Why is Calgary Expo even on their radar, and why would they take sides in a political conflict when they could NOT take sides and get everyone's money because they are the god damn Tokyo Game Show?

[–]typhonblue 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because this entire video is essentially a troll.
