Too depressing. Cba. The comment that got me was some moron talking about how we aren't talking enough about the "problem" of deadbeat dads. It's obvious that person doesn't frequent the sub, considering our stance on the issue. It had 50 up votes. I think it's clearly a circlejerk from people who havn't visited the sub, judging from the comments. No use talking to that kind of person.

It's so funny: I see all these people bashing this sub, but one thing remains constant:

"In my limited time there..."

"I go there every once and awhile"

"Sometimes I see links and I visit the page"

None of these people are actually subbed in. None of these people pay attention to what truly goes on. None of these people try and understand why we talk about what we talk about.

Someone posted this Guardian article, to supposedly show that men are the ones benefiting from divorce, not women.

I found the study and had a look (here) but all I'm seeing is that men earn more money after a divorce. Key word: earn.

A large number of women are not in paid work over 16 hours/week before or after the divorce. Who makes that decision? Many of them get income support, housing benefit, child benefit et cetera. Is it any surprise that the husbands earn more, knowing that many women aren't in paid employment and are relying on state assistance?

Even the researcher says this:

"The percentage change in income is less if they have worked beforehand and continue working afterwards.** The impact is also reduced if they start working after the relationship breakdown.** There is also a potential positive impact if she remarries," he added, "although the impact is a small one."

God The Guardian are such dishonest weasels. They try to spin the fact that whereas women can rely on the state to help them financially, men don't have that luxury. Of course, this is somehow oppressive to women, because those horrible men are earning more money now.

How many men receive maintenance from their ex-wives? What's that? None? Thought so. Just look at this sob story:

I post here time to time, but I don't consider myself an MRA due to different reasons (mostly how I dislike labels and my own views on masculinity and gender oles), but I strongly support most of the things you guys support.

I still haven't seen those "the other side of a Tumblrina/radfem" people talk so much about. It's always in those topics, every single time, you'll hear about the MRA extremists. Where are they? Why when you ask you get either a no-answer or some examples that are nothing comparable to radfems? obligatory Elliot Rodger was a MRA comment. That's the only thing they can get to extremism.

I'd say the only extremist MRA I can mention would be Paul Elam and that's because he's big mouthed and controversial, which actually brings people to the site and the movement. What has he said that it was so terrible? The "smack a bitch" article that was a satire of one posted in Jezebel and those dubious comments about being in a jury for rape trial, of which I see the point, but the execution was terrible.

This has been the first place where I haven't felt like a monster for being a male domestic violence survivor. It isn't always perfect and sometimes I get feeling that the anger gets a little high but even then, all of you have shown restraint and willingness to talk it out which is nothing I've seen before in any involvement I've had in any other rights groups in the past.

I find it sad that people feel so threatened that they have to have this discussion elsewhere, rather than right here.

A lot of misinformation in there, but they clearly don't want to deal with their world view being challenged to the degree it would be in here. It's safer to trash the sub and push your ideology unchallenged in the safety of other subs.
