All of this could have been avoided.

She demands to open the relationship? Grow a spine or backbone and say strictly no, even if it leads to divorce.

Lastly, maybe she wouldn't have married you if you had proposed and therefore dodged the bullet before it could be loaded into the gun.

Should’ve divorced her the moment she asked that question.

Come on,now this sub going to turn into collection of random typical messed up reddit stories.

yes we know what open relationships actually mean

This exact thing happened to me. This is almost always started by women because they have more opportunity for it than men do. In fact I can't recall of any story where a serious long-term relationship was forced into poly by the man.

Really because I posted one to combat this bias. Your own experiences are anecdotal and not everyone posts on reddit.

Women are leading this kind of relationship paradigm according to this article. Supposedly it is when they are "empowered" that they do this. That's code for "realizing most men will fuck them".

https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20220725-the-rising-curiosity-behind-open-relationships

Only about 4% of relationships are non monogamous (no mention of cheating which isn’t open rejection of monogamous relationships- it’s covert- which men are more inclined to do)

Also apparently 1 in 5 hinge users would be open To Open relationships. Aren’t the men here harping on how men outnumber women by at least 2 to 1 on dating apps.

Just don’t date someone whose into it if you aren’t. At least people are having conversations about it than cheating. Currently about 20% of men cheat on their wives vs 13% of women

But here’s a hot take; some people are shitty to their partner in a relationship, some people are so desperate for a relationship or have factors that prevent them from safely leaving that they put up with disrespect. If you don’t want that do your best to be independent and to find someone who you are compatible with. And if you can’t find it stop whinging about the opposite sex being the problem, because both men and women have the ability to be shitty people.

From what I have seen based on Reddit threads, females seem to do it more. They want some Chad dick, open relationship and when Chad leaves close it back up. Of course it is a million times more difficult for a non Chad male to get casual sex so it is one sided

[–]greedyleopard42 3 points4 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

ah yes, based on reddit threads

[–]FastBananaViral 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The comment I replied to cited a Reddit thread. My hypothesis is that females do this open relationship thing a lot more

[–]Opening_Pattern_301GloriousPill 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

reddit attracts a particular demographic, so at least something we can deduct from those threads

To think he wrote that unironically

[–]shreyastalpade 7 points8 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

Good luck dreaming men have any benefits in open relationships.

[–]Lost-Zebra6453 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I would never want an open relationship, the point was the op posted particularly to make Women look bad as if many women Want open relationships

[–]shreyastalpade 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

And that's true

[–]Slipthe 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol which is why the stories feel like such karma when they pressure their partner into one.

[–]Lost-Zebra6453 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The op has a post history that’s main Goal seems to be to shit on women. I Was showing that this karma that you guys seem to Feel so Good about when a woman makes a stupid decision also happens to men for the same shit but I don’t see any posts like that here condemning the stupidity, no, it’s just condemning women that is popular here

[–]RatDontPanicAverage Unfrustrated Chump 0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah like most things this is not a gendered issue.

[–]Fit-Faithlessness149 1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

It really is primarily women. The vast majority of men do not do well with poly because they simply don't have options the way women do.

[–]RatDontPanicAverage Unfrustrated Chump 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Says what? Your gut?

[–]Fit-Faithlessness149 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Personal experience and reading stories such as this almost always seems to be women starting it. Very few men have I read about starting this, because men basically have fewer options. It's much harder for a guy to elicit interest from women if he's taken.

So, anecdotes. Got it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
