I put that crudely but nature isn't an intelligent thing it's just crude brute forces. We just are unique in that unlike a beetle a cockroach a dog or even a monkey we are able to reflect on these forces, we are self aware.

In answer to your question i'd say if you put things up in place of sex that have similar dopamine levels then you'd become docile.

So someone playing videogames, gambling, using drugs or porn could become docile in sex drive relative to someone who does none of those things. In this case it's not that nature is making you self destructive it's that you seek alternatives to maintain dopamine balance to prevent depression.

We could say nature makes you depressed if you're not pumping out babies, if we put it simplistically and because of human intelligence and modern life you have the means to satisfy the base chemical balance.

However there is a sociological aspect, you live in a society, nature gears you to compete and to be social and have relations. This aspect cannot be engineered or faked .
