Any recommendations/advice on how (or even if) I should let my ex know I am no longer going to cover a child expense that is not required by divorce agreement?

The divorce agreement requires that we split “agreed upon” extracurricular activities for the kids 50/50, and uninsured medical costs by income, 78/22. She is the primary caretaker and I pay her a considerable amount in child support and alimony.

Like most married couples we were on a cell plan together, and my daughter also had a line on the plan. The plan was under my ex’s name only. In order to separate the plan there were device payoffs required. It made the most sense to me to just stay on the plan until the devices were paid off.

We officially divorced in December and I continued paying our cell phone bill that is in her name, as I had been since we were married. I started tracking what portion was for her line and my daughters. I requested she reimburse me for her line and half my daughter’s. For some immature reason she has a total aversion to reimbursing me, for the cell phones and even kids activities or medical costs. She just doesn’t want to owe me money. She claims I’m nickel and diming her. She insists on paying the providers directly herself.

She ended up starting a new account for her and my daughter, which triggered the device payoff amounts, and left me on the account in her name. It ended up being a mess because devices had been switched to different lines, just a total mess. I ultimately ended up getting a new account with a different carrier in my name.

I know she’s going to ask me to continue covering half of my daughter’s line. I was willing to do that when we were all on the same account, but after the mess that was caused from separating it, I am no longer willing to pay. I guess I’m concerned that there is a little bit of a precedent set where I was paying for it since the divorce. It is not an extracurricular activity or medical expense so I’m not required by the divorce judgement.

Should I make my ex aware that I’m no longer covering that expense anymore? It probably means she doesn’t owe me half for the few months I paid for my daughter’s line, but whatever. Any advice on how I should word any communication? Or should I just wait until she asks to be reimbursed and say no at that time, or just ignore the request all together?
