So we went to mediation and the custody schedule is M-Thursday my daughter is with me, with alternating weekends. She starts school in August, her mom seems to think it would be better for her to go to school in the next county instead of in my district. My district has a much better school system, higher test scores etc. She could ride the bus, get off at her grandmothers house, have more time for rest, and more time at home. Her mother says that she should go to before, and after school, wants me to pay for it, and get her up a hour before she needs to be everyday. I’m wondering what my next step is. It seems that court will have to happen, the mediation and separation agreement doesn’t seem to be working out. What do I do next?

So with mediation I was led to believe we have joint legal and joint physical custody.

Her reasoning is “she will not have your address as her primary address” even though she’s with me a majority of each week, and I claim her on my taxes. Also she states it’s not her grandmothers job or privilege to get her on and off the bus, so I guess it’s somebody else’s job? I think it boils down to her wanting to continue to control the situation without having to actually deal with getting our daughter ready, back and forth from school, all that good stuff. I’m really not sure how she can view less time at home and going to a worse school district as beneficial to our daughter at all.

I will have to look over the separation agreement to be sure. My daughters mom seems to like all the fun stuff with our daughter but all of the responsibility falls on me it seems.

Any tips on finding the right lawyer for me? I figured that was my next course of action, and I have an appointment next week.

My bad buddy, I’m just trying to figure out the best thing to do here. I’m fully aware the courts favor mothers in these situations and I had hoped to get some input

I re-read the separation agreement. We have joint legal, and joint physical. I feel very much like a passenger in all this. I meet with a lawyer next week.
